My XFX FX 5900nu from Newegg is showing in Coolbits defaults at 400 core and 700 (700?) memory. I ran the Autodetect there and it's telling me 450/802 is Ok. Isn't this wrong and slow for a normal FX 5900nu? I did my best to make sure I didn't get a de-nutted version, maybe I did. Its a version 2.2... hmm. Need someone to tell me if I didn't get what I thought I was buying. Doen't Autodetect try and determine what a safe Overclock is? It's set to what it was supposed to ship at now - lol. Help

Crap - the manufacturer memory speed default setting is 700. What does that mean? I have a lesser 5900nu? Can I still clock it to and over 5900U speeds safely? I may return it if I can, I'm not dissapointed with performance so far but its a weak 5900nu.

It seems you have a GeForce 5900SE. ;)

Samsun 2.8ns memory is cheaper than 2.2ns :D that I think the gf fx 5900 non pro has.

That's decieving because I can't find the SE in association with the card from Newegg to XFX home page (or on or in the box). I'll probably return it but first going to clock it to 450/850 to see if its going to run stable at that speed, cooling in my case is good. I just wouldnt have know about 700 memory being an SE and believe me I tried to be an informed consumer. Probably won't buy another Pine/XFX product. This is the only FX 5900 nu they make whereas most others offer a few versions but label them accordingly. Wonder if I'm better off keeping this or getting a BFG FX 5700U.

Just $36.00 more for this BFG Asylum Geforce FX 5900 128MB DDR DVI TV OUT AGP8X and it's not an SE, they make one model and it's a regular NU. Going to end up spending more than I wanted but you can not get a 5900nu for under $200.00 that is Not an SE. Calling Newegg today. Maybe I'lll look ate the R 9800's again. XFX and PNY are decieving (not Newegg) and although the product itself may be top notch the marketing is a scam.

Hey Spivey,

Didn't you say before that you didn't have the same HSF cooling as S.I.N. before? I would hold NewEgg accountable, as if you ordered the XFX 5900 Non Ultra from them, then they clearly sent you the wrong product. You should be fully reimburse too since it isn't your doing if that's what happen. Strange though, NewEgg is usually very good about shipping you what you ordered.

And...

GeForceFX 5950 Ultra
NV38 (4x2, 256 bits)
475/475 MHz

GeForceFX 5900 Ultra
NV35 (4x2, 256 bits)
450/425 MHz

GeForceFX 5900SE
NV35 (4x2, 256 bits)
400/350 MHz

GeForceFX 5900XT
NV35 (4x2, 256 bits)
390/350 MHz

If that helps any. All are suggested to reach speeds of the 5900 Ultra.

Peace,

:)

Yeah I was curious and found it interesting when you said yours looked different. The one I have has the default speed as all other 5900nu and has that gorgeous shiny hsf as in the pics. Call for a return bro if infact it is SE and hurry.:)

Looks like you've been hornswaggled. File that RMA request right now. Newegg should get back to you with an approval by the end of the day. I've never had a single problem returning stuff to them - always been credited in full, then place your order for that BFG card.

Damit! (lol)
You're right I need to get it away from me asap. It's not a true NU but it's hella better than my Radeon 8500! It's going back. Hey thanks guys for posting to advice and inform.

Definately go with the BFG card you wont be disappointed.Stock speeds are 400/850. Mine has been running stable at 500/975 for a while. The only downside is its a double sized card.

Send that thing back Spivey. It should be a big blue card with huge
heat sink running under the card and on top of it silver in color. Plus
it should run stick at 450/850. Maybe somebody sent it back after the switch their SE out or something.

How do you get a full refund. I asked for a RMA nymber today and they sent me one on a card thats running hot with a 15% restocking fee.:(

As I recall, the 5900 you were buying was listed as 400/800, so if you're starting off lower than they there's something screwy going on, ya.

You shouldn't have any trouble, tho. I got a wrong USB card and wrong HD from NewEgg and various points, and I was able to get restocking fees waved as well as shipping reimbursement, so there was never any skin off my bones. ^_^

Mostly just annoying to get blue-balled on wanting to play with your new card, eh? ;)

It seems you guys got hit with a revision models of some sort I guess. Newegg has also upgraded the specs http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?catalog=48&DEPA=1&submit=property&mfrcode=0&propertycodevalue=4828, now listed as 400/700. Bummer and also gone is that shiny hsf. Guess I was the lucky one. And it really sucks that the card you guys have which is not the same as mine has the same model number. Update if you got them to take it back with no problems.

Called Newegg and they gave me an RMA # for a full refund but no offer for an upgrade although I didnt ask. I will probably get the BFG GFFX 5900nu I saw for $225.00. Still the best deal from what I can tell although at that price or maybe a few dollars more I could get an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. That 9800np BBA we saw from Circuit City may have been the deal to go with but its gone now... had slower memory also. Are the MSI cards good? I know what to expect from BFG though and I called them up about thier 5900nu. I don't think an extra $36 for thiers is a biggie.

I've tried this XFX out btw and I still get one (one vs several) of the display errors my Radeon 8500 was giving me and thats flashing corrupt textures so something else if going on with my computer. I wanted to post pics I captured in the post I started in the Forceware column but I don't know how that works, tried, can anyone tell me?

When replying to a thread you will notice an Attach File: field down below the text window.

The easiest way to post a picture is to upload one there - the only thing is filesize is limited to 100kb

In my area the Circuit City deals were still good until tomorrow, so you might want to call a few stores in your area and check.

You MIGHT also still be able to grab a circular and use it at stores like Best Buy which may price-match. Considering the online Circuit City site still has $299 crossed off and says "check your local store"--same as it has looked before--their low prices would seem to still be in effect.

Even with slower memory, it is better than the 5900 NU...
