Hello! :) That gimik lame XFX card is going back and I bought this from Newegg and it's on the way. Albratron Geforce FX5900 128MB Video card Model FX5900PV Retail. $199.00
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-170-029&depa=1&section=2

Anand says theyre a quality manufacturer and I get Splinter Cell with it which I have never played. Oops, maybe not Splinter Cell after all. I think that was Chaintech. I get a carry case tho - lol. What will I use that for? Dirty undie ringer ("The Big Lebowski") harhar

aw man did you get stuck with one of the crappy ones with slower memory? sux. I read on guru3d forums about people getting the XFX thinking it had the faster RAM (2.2) but it actually having the 2.8

For $199 Is a 5900 non-ultra clocked at 400c, 850m. Its great card, and great deal, which hopefully I'll get for Xmas :D If not, then the Gainward 1200 Ultra. I kinda like the Albatron better tho because of the cool heatsink/fan set up. Its kinda weird that the slightly lower speed Albatron 5900 (400c/800m) costs more than the faster one. NewEggs 5900 pricing has been very freaky lately.

The 5900SE's are still great cards, they have 22 gigs of bandwidth and 700 mhz memory. Of course if regular 5900s at 850 mhz memory are same price then its no brainer which card to get.

The Albatron is well made, gets good reviews. Don't buy them all up ok :D Seems like everytime I spot a deal so do 2000 other peeps :(

Enjoy your new card

Many 5900 non-Ultra's I've seen listed as 800Mhz on RAM--XFX included. (They are not specific on their website.) I don't know if any of the 800Mhz ones are simply there because they're under-clocked, or if they actually have lower-speed memory. Some OEM's might have had multiple versions along the run, making it so you can't be positive what you'll get. Some versions I KNOW state 850Mhz (ASUS and Leadtek do, Albatron and Chaintech should), but I don't think one can be positive for all brands. (On eVGA and XFX for instance, I think it's "depends," and MSI states specifically 2.8ns...)

You certainly shouldn't get 700Mhz RAM, but you may not automatically get 850 either. (Though at least this time that's what they SAY it is. Hehe...) Question is whether or not you'll try for a third card if you get the "still-slower-but-not-AS-slow-as-the-last-RAM" RAM. ;)

RobHague got an LX which I believe may have been a 400/700 and overclocks fine to 450/850. He just perfers to run it at stock clock speeds.

GeForceFX 5950 Ultra
NV38 (4x2, 256 bits)
475/475 MHz

GeForceFX 5900 Ultra
NV35 (4x2, 256 bits)
450/425 MHz

GeForceFX 5900SE
NV35 (4x2, 256 bits)
400/350 MHz

GeForceFX 5900XT
NV35 (4x2, 256 bits)
390/350 MHz

The LX is being replaced by the XT AFAIK. That is the current state of 5900's right now though.

Peace,

My LX does not overclock ram anywhere closde to 850 speeds. You keep saying it does. But the memory (2.8ns) Is valued at 720 mhz or so. And it hits about 770 before Artificating.

I find it highly unlikely anyone else with my card is hitting 850 Mhz speeds.

The extra memory bandwith doesnt seem to do anything except for AA, gives me about 5 FPS more. (770 Mhz) Doesnt seem worth it.

I agree Chris.... 2.8 is just not going to reach those kinds of speeds.
Well, unless u cool it to -30 below. ;) "lol"
Then it might.

Careful, Chris! The logic of personal experience is NOTHING compared to the awesome power of conclusions arrived based on random forum posts!

Lets not forget common sense ;) Hehe

I'm really not sayen the 5900SE are bad values. I think they are great. But In my experience. 850 Memory just isnt possible. I think 770 Mhz is great Overclock tho. For the Value of the memory. The Leadtek card is just incredible.

On the memory overclock, I think its still a great card for the money. 22 gigs of bandwidth and 256 bit bus for $200 dollars or less is frankly just awesome :)

I hope there are similar deals on the new NV40's, after they are out a few months of course

It is a good deal for sure. :)

I just cannot see to many 2.8 memory chips doing 850. ;)
