excuse my newbie-ism, but i was searching everywhere and can't find any comparisons between the ati radeon 9800 pro and the ati radeon 9800 pro all in wonder.

i have heard that the all in wonder gets less frame-rates, but i don't know that for sure. i wouldn't see why it would get less performance, but i guess it's possible.

anyway, could anyone here please enlighten me? i am new to the performance video card scene, so i really dont have much of a clue.

thanks... any benchmark sites u could send me to would be great.

Well from all the articles I have read when I was thinking about getting it, all that it is...is 9800 Pro with a T.V tuner. Here is very good comparison and the features in one.

As far as I know, they're exactly the same card at stock speeds. It just depends on which manufacturer I guess, as some use different brands of memory.

However, I've heard that the AIW cards don't overclock quite as well, since their heatsink has to be shrunk down a bit to make room for the tv tuner hardware. Although after looking at pictures of each board closely, there doesn't seem to be much difference at all.

Use to be some difference, especially in the 8500 series, IIRC the memory clocks were different with the AIW being much lower. However, with the 9800Pro/9800Pro AIW I don't think you will notice any difference in gaming. I have not used the 9800Pro AIW but it does have some nice features.

afaik all the r3xx series AIW's are same clocks and performance as the regular highend gpu's they are based on..

there is no difference between my current AIW 9700pro and the regular 9700pro that I used to have...

Bottom line: the cards are pretty much the same. But if you don't plan on using any of the TV tuner/PVR features that the AIW has, there's no reason to spend the extra money on it.

The only 9800 Pro with different clock speeds is the 256MB Version, which runs @ 700Mhz Memory, rather than 680Mhz. The core is the same, 380Mhz.
