View Full Version : Winamp5 Final
Winamp5 Final is out and is available from Winamp.com (http://www.winamp.com). Go check it out! I've been using the Winamp5 beta for about a month and I love it. The Final apparently has the one feature that Winamp3 had that I couldn't put down: the Media Library. Very nice feature; I'm glad to see that it's still in Winamp5.
So whatcha think? Download and try it out!
Ive been using the beta as well, and i really love it, my favorite mp3 player

Winamp 2 with freeform skin support, yay! This is exactly what I wanted Winamp 3 to be. I can use my old plug-ins and skins while using all the coolest WA3 ones. Plus this retains what probably is my favorite WA2 feature - the ability to buffer entire songs into memory.
I am very happy with this player so far, but I'm going to keep WA 2.71 on hand just in case.

there is so many setting where can i make it buffer all songs to memory ? gotta put to good use that 1 gig of ram i got on my NoteBook :D
I downloaded it and ran it through its paces at home and I'm very happy with it. For a while, it appeared that there wasn't an option to sort tracks by their track # (the other feature that I needed from WA3), but I found that it auto-sorts by track number anyway. There might also be some CDDB connectivity going on there, as well - I certainly can't say I'm a big fan of album/artist specific adverts in the Media Library, but that's the only complaint I have so far!
It's very good, installed the Full yesterday, and it works fine with all my skins and plugins (something Winamp3 could not for many). They really did a nice job this time, and it's more similar to Winamp2 than Winamp3. Definetly worth downloading :)

I recently tried and found it to be pretty good. Though the TV webcast stuff sort of caught me off guard, their were several porn things going. I couldn't help but check it out and sure enough it was porn. They also had some Simpsons episode, Some weird Bjork-a-thon music video, a few other odd shows..
I think'll it will take some time to get used to it, still hard to see at 1600x1200...

One reason I stuck with Winamp2 and skipped Winamp3. Winamp5 is great, it's like Winamp2 but with the customizability of Winamp3.

That plugin is a huge reason why I stick with Winamp. :)

foobar2000 with kernel streaming.. :o
simple non resource hog..sounds great..what more do you want..
Does the winamp 5 hog resources like 3 did?
Nope, it shouldn't. I haven't actually run a comparison, but since 5 is based on 2's code, it should be relatively light on the hardware.

A better interface. Foobar is a wee bit too simplistic for my liking. WA 5.01 has been absolutely awesome. It has very good resource management. I have no problems playing songs even with a full set of programs running at once (Photoshop, Mozilla, IE, Folding, Trillian and others).
