RedHat7.2, kernel -2.4.18
The X server start during 1-2 min. It is too slow for my system:
Duron 1,2
RAM 256Mb
GeForce4MX440DDR64
I also noticed some blinking of a screen while I am waiting.
When I switch to text-console and back to the X, I saw the same!
Please help me to fix the problem

Your system looks quite OK i think, even on my old 133 MHz, 32 meg machine
the startup is faster though it depends on the used windowmanager.
Well as a first test and without checking any log files and other
stuff , just enter 'X' on a text console and estimate the seconds
until a black crossed mouse pointer is visible on a grey screen.
Then finish this windowmanager free X session by ctrl-alt-backspace.
Is there a significant difference of the elapsed time?

I didn't say about KDE or other windowmanager. I mean only X(!) server starts VERY SLOWLY!
It's look like it try different modes, but I have define concrete mode in XF86config-4!

Well, it' only a thought. But try to uncomment
all the mouse related stuff in your XF86config.
Maybe the mouse, protocols or irqs dont match
and are conflicting.
