eVGA FX5900SE for $189 with Call of Duty.....

Looking at the 5700 Ultra prices at Newegg, some cards from other brands are more expensive than the 5900SE......

Might as well get the 5900SE, which will have far higher performance than the 5700U..... :D

I bought one sold my turkey of A card the Radeon 9800 pro 256.
Go ahead ATI guy's flame away but for the price you pay for that card it's just not worth it. I will be happy with the 5900SE with a free copy of COD.
Which I wanted any way.:D Should have it Friday.:jumping:

That's realy a sweet deal. That XFX 5900se I was mistakenly sent from NewEgg was actualy realy nice. I ran several games with no problems after I disabled the accidental OC of my ram by resetting the mobo defaults.. haha (oooh Spivey). Heck the only issue with it was I wanted a full NU which is what was advertised the day of my purchase, a flop on NewEggs behalf and they should have paid for return shipping (i'm going to hit them with a "medium" review) since it was thier misgiving.

The 5900se ran real fast and nice and if I had gotten stuck with it I would have been satisfied although fixated on the clock speeds. A 5900se is worth ever bit of $186 imo and I'm sure you'll be very pleased with it. Guess I have to buy CoD, looks like a bitzen game... Albatron sent me "Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project" with my 5900PV - lol! Does this game ballz deep suck?

Its kinda funny :)

Personally would like to a few FPSs that had some humor in them. And yes, I know DNMP is third person :)

I just got my eVGA 5900SE from NewEgg today. It did not come with Call of Duty. You need to register your card on eVGA's site and then they'll allegedly send you the game.

Does eVGA's card, because it's completely based on nVidia's reference design, use lower quality filters? I could swear the images on my screen, particularly in 2D, are not quite as crisp as the ones produced by the Leadtek 5700 card the eVGA is replacing.

I also read on ExtremeTech that eVGA's DVI compliance is putrid because of the use of low quality components. I was hoping that I could use the DVI-VGA adapter to connect to my NEC Multisync FE950+ CRT, but I don't get an image on screen. Any ideas?
http://www.extremetech.com/print_article/0,3998,a=110973,00.asp

Now I'm worried. Am I making a mistake by abandoning the Leadtek 5700 in favor of the eVGA 5900SE??

If you don't like the eVGA card, Leadtek is making a 5900XT, although it's clocked 10MHz slower in the core.

Thats a sweet deal. NVidia is really going after the mainstream sector.

5900
5900SE
5700U

Makes me want to get one, but Im fine for now.

ARRGGG no ElderDruid tell me it aint so:( . It states on newegg site

EVGA 128-A8-N321, GeForce FX 5900SE, 128MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP, With Call Of Duty, RETAIL

That does not say you have to send off to get it. NewEgg is getting like a lot of others now that they have become the biggest.:( I never had problems with them till this month. One needed a CD with drivers for my new motherboad because the one that came with it was broken. They wanted me to RMA it at 15% of and get a whole new MB. Now missleading us with Video card bundles and some cards spec's.:( Sure hope this is because of the Christmas rush nothing else.

I'm afraid it is true. The only thing you get in the eVGA box is a slip of paper that directs you to register to get your copy of Call of Duty. That's false advertising on NewEgg's part, and I'm certainly going to let them know about it. First they start charging me sales tax in NJ, and now this. Like all companies that outgrow themselves, NewEgg's customer satisfaction will most likely start to suffer.

I know what you mean they hit me with sale's tax here in TN now to.:(
But miss leading like this has got to stop I have been with NewEgg since it was Oldegg :D er I mean Egghead. I wanted that game for Christmas this really stinks.

Well it's certainly not worth the price you'd normally pay for it, not in comparison to other options. But that's true for ALL the top-end cards.

Not a NewEgg string but there are alot of other online companies just as good that I've made purchases from. Others have great prices and customer service and I'll definatly consider them more over NewEgg for a while. My 2 cents

Well i got it today no COD in it:( But I love the card for the price.:) Just wonder how long it will be before I get COD.

FX 5900 $190 logtech mouse $50 FIFA 2004 $30 Madden 2004 $30 Audigy2
retail $80. Total $380.

Radeon 256 pro sold for $375 I'm happy with the price trade off with all the extra goodies I was able to get.

Plus I will get a free copy of COD and Nhl 2004 for buying two EA

game's:dance:
High end card's are nice but not realy worth what you pay for them now any way with the Radeon 9800 pro at $275 and the FX at $190.00

I think thats good.
Its the original 5900NU (400, 850)
its a BFG Asylum.
I just picked one up, it clocks well and I get 6k in 3dmark03
I think I have taken it to 480,925
anyways its a damn nice card.
I think 5900NU's still go for 281$ on zipzoomfly.com

so its good deal.

A 256 mb card just isn't necessary right now. The 128 mb 9800 Pro for about $270 is a very good deal if that's your budget. Even when I have FX cards in my system, I invariable go back to ATI because I like their image quality better and I get better overall gaming performance.

But I still will continue to recommend the 5900NU/SE for people on $200 budgets. That's still the best bang for the buck going right now.

If I didn't have the 5700u already I'd be doing this:

http://shop1.outpost.com/product/3699455

5900 with the 'good' ram for 199usd and bfg's real life time warranty

GenTarkin

yeah thats the same one I bought at frys electronics =P

does that have 2.2ns ram?? because my ram only can clock to like 920 =(

Not sure Gen,

All I know is it's the 5900, not the SE or XT so it should have better ram. I am not buying another FX card, as the NV40 is coming down the pike next year. I think that is why you are not hearing alot about it, and seeing all these 'great' prices.

That card went 299>, 279, 249, to 199. Its definately worth the 199 if you have an older card, or a low end.

If you are after CoD, yeah I'd buy the evga...

Is the FX5900SE a good overclocker? Anyone tried yet?

Depends. Reviews I've seen had the card go as high as 471/840 but others I've seen only go as high as 440/770. It's a total crapshoot.

I was at my local Best Buy this weekend and they had a few BFG 5900NU cards available for sale. $239-$50 rebate. And these are full-out 5900s with 400/850 clocks.

Wow, nice price on those!
BFG has the best warranty and service and mine clocks at 475/950 with no "glitches" or problems, great deal.
