Mental masturbation, it's a self geek-challenge kind-o-thing. Anyone can get good FPS in GTA VC with a 9700 Pro...making it playable with a V5 5500 is a whole 'nother story! ;)

That's good enough for me. I personally would like to enjoy my games right off the bat and tweak my system overall than struggle to get a game to work on a three-year-old piece of technology. But that's just me.

... heh, kinda like the fools among us (myself included ;) ) who try to do things like get a 14k 3dmk2k1 score out of a GF3.... :p ... IT'S FUN!! GEEKY FUN!!! :p

Actually,

for some appliactions multichips cards are one possible solution that has some merit in theory. Take the VSA-100 for example. Not the best chip in the world. But that one chip could be used for a low end, mid range, highend up to to the ubber highend 32 chip monster systems. All with one chip. And yes they have plenty of down sides. Its all a matter of trade offs.

I guess that's why XGI chose the muktichip solution as well
