View Full Version : Performance of 53.03 vs 44.67 on a 5900?

I am just curious is anyone else had noticed the same performance difference that I have been experiencing with the new 53.03 and my 5900.

*3dmark01 scores dropped from 14000 to around 12500 with the 53.03.

*Morrowind now seems to hang at near or below 20 fps when ANY level of AA is applied. Even stranger is that I get almost the exact same result whether 2x, 4X, 4XS (using aTuner), 6X is applied. While with 44.67 I get fps that are above 30 fps in the wilderness with 80% view with 4XS & 4XAniso.

*KOTOR now seems to have lower fps when I only use 2X when compared to 4X or 4X-9tap on the 44.67.

*NFS:UG experiences wierd effects when you enable headlights. On the 44.67 the headlights illuminated only the road, while in 53.03 the effect is much brighter (too bright) and also affects buildings (not in a good way since the entire building *blinks* on all at once).

Have others experience these problems as well? I haven't played Halo or Tomb Raider: AOD, which I assume run much better with the new dynamic compiler. Do to 53.03's help with anything other than a few DX9 games?

I hate to stay at 44.67 since the PS2.0 performance is lower, but playing all my DX8.1 and below games is far more important right now. I would appreciate any relevant thoughts or comments. Hopefully I just have something setup wierd, but I have tried both the 44.67 & 53.03's twice (with clean installs) to verify my results.

Ive had too many probs with the forceware drivers.

Broken Sword 3 wouldnt even run and starwars KOTOR my lightsaber was really really messed up. It would change the color of my lightsaber from red to yellow and sometimes green, and make it all blocky lookin :(

Check this out lol

thats my dark jedi, his saber is red but it was showing up like that with the newer drivers.

I would comment on speed but the difference is too small (gameplay wise) with a 5200 for me to even notice.

Slow is slow with a 5200

On my 5600Go, the 4x.xx series is a bit slower, but better quailty. the Newest Forceware seems ok, but campatibility problems ream up time to time.

The Test 4 Nature benchmark optimizations were taken out in the newest Forcewares since the beta 51.75. My nature fps dropped from 140 fps to 100 fps when I updated from the 44.67 to the 50.xx drivers. Taking about 2000 points with it. It is a synthetic benchmark that is optimized by both ATi and Nv so.. meh.

Some of the GT4 3dmark2001 optimizations do seem to have been taken out of the drivers since 45.20. But not all...so meh. Discussion (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20526)

its a bit jumpy & laggy at times but I've never experienced any artifacts &/or glitches with the graphics. I run it at 1024x768x32bit @ 4x AA & 8x AF. Whats the command for viewing FPS in KOTOR?
