Lets hope I havent made the wrong choice!!

Basiclly, I had ordered a 256bit 9800SE on the 16th Dec. there was only this one place that I found had them, and it was in stock according to thier website. Christmas came and went and I still didnt have my card, so we gave them a call only to find out that they "dont" have that card in stock, and thy wont be getting any more. They told me that they could sent me the Sapphire 9800SE for the same price, so I asked if it was infact the 256bit version, she replied yes it was, so I said ok. Got the thing today and the damn thing is only 128bit as I thought it was going to be, and there is no way Im keeping it.

Basiclly, I cant be assed anymore, so Im sending this back and getting the Point Of View GeforceFX 5900XT - 400/700, Im just hoping that it will be a good card:)

This is the card (http://www.grosbill.fr/index.php3?id=10978&site=mprix)

Sorry about the bad luck on the 9800SE, most resellers dont really have a CLUE of what they are selling.

BTW how much are you paying for it? and is there no way you can get a 5900 Regular? i belive best buy says they have them by BFG?

Dude, he lives in France. Ain't no way he can get a card from Worst Buy.

And Smokey, congrats on the purchase. You're going to love that card. Best deal going right now. The SE is plenty powerful if you couldn't get a regular 5900NU.

Pricing is a little strange I have found. I use 2 sites here in France, like PriceWatch in the US and UK, the 5900XT im getting is 219 euros, then there is the Gigabyte 5900XT for 240euro, any other 5900 whether its XT/SE/NU you are looking around 300euro plus !! I really cant spend anymore on a card, as its my Christmas present from mu wife :D

FX5900XT 400/700 is an excellent card, and definetly more powerful than a R9800SE 128bit. Enjoy!

Did you look for a Hercules 9800SE AIW? Those are the only ones I know are 256-bit offhand, and they're only releasing them in Europe, you lucky bastards! :( Usually around 200 Euros (or equivalent in pounds, since I have a harder time maneuvering around non-English sites ;) ) when I see them. Lovely soft-modding plus the AIW package...! Mmm...

You'll certainly in no way be disappointed in a 5900XT, though. Definitely with the kicking-of-butt for not raping-the-wallet. :p

(How much was your original 9800SE order, btw?)

I had thought about the 9800SE AIW, but its 240euro, I have no use for the AIW features. The card I had ordered was the Club-3D 9800SE for 209euro, and I was willing to take the chance with softmodding. After all this messing about, plus the fact Im going to have to pay to send this card back, it was either the 9600XT or the 5900XT, and I think the 5900XT is the better of the 2, now im just wanting to see how good this card overclocks :p

That the card in the picture is a 5700 Ultra and not a 5900XT?

Hope the next card you order is what you expect it to be despite the wrong pic :)
