NextGen

... and got a Radeon 9800 Pro instead. So far, I'm quite satisfied with my choice, and will be sticking with it. I'd have stayed with my FX5900 if it wasn't for the bad RAM that it had onboard, but enough was enough, and I wanted a good, solid video card that I could stick by for at least a couple of years to come. Bye-bye NVIDIA; hello, ATI! :D

Cant go wrong with the 9800Pro, I would have got one if I had the money, still waiting on my 5900XT to arrive :)

I see in your other thread about the little blue spots with the 5900XT, you didnt give any updates or add any other replies? Was just wondering what came of that, in terms of what had you tried etc to come to the conclusion that it was bad ram on the card?

hehe sounds like me:)

I also ditched my 5900 for a 9800Pro, and I couldn't be happier, well... unless it was a 9800XT:D

For a moment there i though i was surfing over@Rage. 50% of the threads over there is like: "OMG, I JUST BOUGHT A 9800 PRO!!!1111"

I think i'm gonna start telling everybody whenever i've taken a dump. I'm sure it'll be just as interesting..

except here there's not NEARLY as many uneducated fanboys as there is over @ Rage, lemme tell ya. I really appreciate the 90% non-bias users on this board i really do. Becuz Rage is killing me. I got my 5950u for the price of a 5700u and everyone at rage was like "oh well, i'd rather have a 9800XT". I mean, c'mon... 227$ for a ****ing GFFX 5950U and they'd rather have a 9800XT??WTF.

/end rant

Are you really surprised? I can't even browse that message board any more.

i only browse General Hardware... it's the only board on there that CAN't be ATI radeon v. NVIDIA geforce Bias... it's disgusting the amount of self-indulged fanboys are registered there. It's gotten really bad lately though, in the past few months its gone from 50% fanboy pop to 85% fanboy pop....just sad. Makes ya wonder how many of those people band wagon jump...

Just put 5900U in my Intel rig replacing the 9800Pro. The Pro won't be without a home for long tho. Just trying to figure out which board to get for my upcoming Athlon64 box. :D

Hey now.. Not all of us over there are just rabid fanboys... Some of us have a little common sense.

Although I will admit there are a few die hard ATI people over there that just don't know when to quit. The whole IQ thing has been beat to death but there are those that won't let it die. Myself.. When I upgrade will probably get the 9800 pro, however, that really depends on what is the next Gen products.

Waiting with baited breath....:D

I would say there are some, when I see someone recomending a 9500pro over a FX5800,it might have been considered a flop but a FX5800 would be a lot better card then a 9500pro,to me there not even in the same ballpark
IMO

I don't agree with that, I'll still take a 9500pro over a fx5800... better Dx9 and better FSAA. I might even take a 9600pro over a fx5800.

What OS you intend to run? any 64-bit? Then use the 5900U in the athlon64box and the 9800Pro in whatever box you use 32-bit cpu, os and apps

No 64 bit OS yet...does not really matter as I change stuff around consistantly. Totally hung up on tweaking. :D Been this way since before the 'Super 7' boards. Just wish I could make up my mind on which board to get. Kinda leaning toward one of the NF3 boards since they are agp lock capable and I got burnt out on Via a few years back.
