just been talking to my gf and she has chronic sinusitis, gives her headaches and makes her feel sick quite a lot of the time. Anyone know of any treatments that could actually cure the damn thing?:)

Cut off her nose. This will allow all the evil spirits that have been housing themselves within her sinuses to escape.

Yes this works..

I've heard of this procedure. It works quite well. She may want to look into this. I know a doctor around my way (Dr. Kevorkian) who has a well know success for curing chronic sinusitis.

Or she can grind up a whole bag of halls mento and snort it every half hour.

Same problem here... no way to fix it, AFAIK. Just load up on really strong decongestants...

Its a blessing in disguise. Think about it you could walk around smelling like a pig, no need to wear aftershave to impress her and she would not notice. :D

Sorry about that.

Nah i dont think there is no sure fire way to cure it though.

Other than surgery, a periodic diet of Zithromax and Darvocets or Vicodin does help quite well...in more ways than one, I might add! :p

Unfortunately, those are perscription medicines. :(

They gave that to me when I was in the hospital for the blood clot last March...and were rather surprised as they thought I would get drowsy from having taken 2 of them. I didn't get any sleep that night...though a hospital stay was not much to my liking. Between being absolutely board out of my skull, the IV hurting (they first stuck it in my finger but missed a vein altogether and got no blood so then put it right opposite to my elbow which isn't the best location for one), and a lady down the hall, who whenever someone would walk by was throwing herself up against the walls and screaming like the guy in Jurasic Park 3 when the dinosaur stepped on his back.

That was my first in a hospital, and quite frankly I didn't like it anymore then Son Goku did in DBZ when going to the hospital.

Oh and sinuses, yeah I've got allergies in both my sinuses and my eyes (which since having moved out here well the following year actually my eyes can start itching and all every fall). I never thought I had allergies until I moved out here, but it must be something unique to this area or something. I usually just live with it though unless my eyes start itching really, really bad and are watering a lot... The sinuses I've kinda gotten used to

I think you need to use 3 prescriptions at once. I think they are; decongestant, antihistamine, and antibiotic, but not sure about that middle one. The ailment could also be stress related. Many people have particular problems that are brought on by stress. Learning to deal with stress helps.

From what I hear..My friend has the same problem..Anything can set if off at any given moment..

He works in an Air condition enviroment. This sets it off constantly. Also Dust really gets him messed up. He'll be fine one minute and the next minute it looks like he has the Flu. Its quite amazing.

Cutting out all sugar (lotsa luck) is one way to get rid of it. Bacteria feed on the blood sugar, and I feel sugar suppresses the imune system. Plus diet, how healthy does she eat? Lots of fresh greens and such will help. No diet drinks or foods either. Aspartame (nutrasweet) will cause headaches that are excruciating in some err ... victims. I had this girlfriend who always had porcelain god headaches. She even went for a ct to check for tumours. They found nothing. Long after we parted, I remembered she always had a diet coke in her hand everywhere we went. Bet that was why. Skinny/slender (like my ex) people seem to get the headaches more than fatties. I think fatties store more/metabolise more of the formaldehyde and methyl alcohol that aspartame breaks down into. Nice huh?

Thanks for that. Makes me feel reeeally good about myself ;)

... so I have to eat vegetables? Damnit! Someone once told me that dairy products were causing my sinusitis... and yet I continue to exist on cheese...

Do a search on enzymes (a fun word, enzymes, say it with me... enzymes...) as they may be key to our health and yet largely ignored.
Enzymes are also the reason why animals in the wild are generaly healthy and are never fat. They do not cook their food, thus their food is full of enzymes. Farm animals do not get a natural diet and are therefore subject to the same sickness we may be.
Cooked/processed food=killed enzymes. They die at 120f or so.
Don't be stupid. I am not saying not to cook meat and such.
The more fresh (living enzyme) food you eat, the better off you will be. Again, lotsa luck.
Sorry to carry on so.

best solution i've found?

exercise.

go do 10 miles on an exercise bike (only takes 25-30 minutes), and you will feel so much better...

LOL, I was about to say, be careful what you don't cook. Meat can have this rather nasty little bacterium called E. Coli 0157 (I think is the specific strain) and it doesn't take too many of them to make one sick... When I was a kid I used to eat my steak and burgers medium rare, since then I'll only eat the stuff well done...

Steaming vegetables (rather then boiling them) can help preserve vitamin content and the like...not that I'm a big vegetable eater, but what the hell...hehe

Sometimes it can be allergy related though and rather seasonal. As I also ran into, it can sometimes be based on location as well...
