I must say it's wonderful.
Comes with all the games and software that the XT comes with.
You can just tell this is one well made card. Cooler is super nice.
I'll be installing tonight.
I'll let everyone know how it goes.
Also going to flash it to a Asus XT.
For 399 I'm VERY happy. :D :D :D
I tought you got it a few days ago? Was it due to me posting them pics a few days ago got you drooling :D

UPDATE:
Got it installed and running. :)
I love it!
It come with the same software as the XT does. 9 games. :D
Asus really out did them self on this bad boy.
The card is running 50c at idle... Not sure on load.
Rivatuner does not seem to pickup the temps.
SmartDoc is cool but it it makes all my games and all stutter badly.
So i have no way to monitor temps. :(
I'm using the ATI 3.10 drivers. The new 4's seem to have a bug.
I could not get AA/AF to turn on and off with them.
Boy I had forgot how good the IQ really is on this cards.
There is so much u miss on the nvidia cards. Little details
on everything. It's night and day.
Untill u run one them switch it out and run the other
you really never notice it.
All and all I'm a hppy camper. :D :D
Just wish smartdoc worked right.

New update: Well the max 100% stable memory speed on it is 770.
That is artifact free with no white dots or anything.
I have not really played with the core to much but it's siting at 425 now and not one problem. :)
I'm a little unhappy about the memory clock. But that's the way every ati card I've owned has been. I've never got as high on memory as some do. :(
I'm going to play with the core more in a little bit.
CORE UPDATE: Well, sh!t, sh!t, sh!t! 432 is the max out of the core.
Any higher and I get like 2 or 3 small white dots on mother nature 3dm03.
I feel like Hellbinder now. Everyone else is getting super high clocks and poor old us are stuck down here at the bottom of overclocks. :(
He is even got a XT.
What are most 9800Pro's with stock cooling clocking at?

I thought it had faster memory on it like 2.5ns my 9800pro will over clock to 440/780,the core will go a little higher if I am running 3Dmark2001se.

I'm really wondering on the memory myself now.
It was suppose to have 2.5 on it. But now I'm wondering.
As for as core goes that''s luck of the draw.
There are many XT that will not hit over 430.
I think that's why ATI only use a 412 clock with overdrive.
There are a lot of cores that just will not do any higher.
Yelds would have been very low.
Also non of the asus cards are clocking real high anyway.
I think it may be a voltage thing.
I'm very happy with it tho. Damn fast and killer IQ. :D

You're complaining about 770 mhz ram speed? Hell mine barely reaches 760 mhz and thats with the Zalman heatpipe + 90 mm fan on top of it! The core however does go higher than yours, around 450 mhz artifact free.

Yes I'm complaining. I was really hoping these asus cards had 2.5 on them... and they might. I think they need more voltage.
The 9800Pro has lower voltage than the XT does.
But all and all yes I'm very happy with the card. It runs nice and cool and lot of software and games. It will run XT speeds no problem at all.
That is all I could hope for. :)
Does anyone know if the XT bios raises the voltage on core and memory like the gefore does?
If you like memory speed then why did you sell your 5800U :p
That one came at 1Ghz :D

Its really funny. People forget so Quickly that there really is a big difference between the base IQ of ATi and Nvidia. Nvidias Textures are flat out "slightly Grungy" and every so slightly less detailed. The problem is that it affects the entire Frame, every frame. Thats just the plain truth. I say this from experience myself. You drop in a Modern ATi card and are instantly smacked in the face with the Difference. Ati simply has a more Crisp, sharp look to it. That is not even getting into AA or AF.

Well, it's a human nature to forget stuff like that. Same thing when you have to drive some old boring car for a few days instead of your own kickass ride.
After a few days that old boring car isnt' that bad at all, but when you get your own ride back it all comes back to you. :D
Same thing i guess.
Anyway, glad you're happy with your new card bk, now go play some games. :bounce:

So 50C is good? I just used a temp probe on the back and got 45C and 48C on the heatsink.

You are so right HB.
As soon as I changed the cards out last night it was a world of difference.
You would never know it unless u have both in front of u.
I don't care what anyone says. The dang radeon looks 100% better.
The little details are not there on NV cards. It's like they a missing.
The AA/AF are so sweet. :)
If ATI keeps up the good work with the R420 there is no way I'll
switch to the NV40. I'll stay with ATI just for the IQ alone.

Well, I downloaded ATI tool tonight.
After 3 hours of messing with it I'm not to happy.
My MAX safe core is 440. My MAX safe memory is only 351.
The very max I could run them with 0 errors for 444 core/ 353 memory. :(
Asus must have used some cheapo memory on these boards.
What is 2.86 rated at?? I'm guessing it must have it on it.
I was really hoping it had 2.5.
My core is ok. 440 is not to bad. Could be worse. But the memory burns my butt. :(
So it seems I'll be running it at 440/702 all the time.
10mhz over stock suxs a big one.

1000/2.86 = 350MHz
So your memory is working exactly to spec if it is 2.86ns. What is there to complain about here?
I tell you one thing that irritates me. I'd quite like a cheap DX9 card and thought about buying the 9600 but the crappy 200MHz memory put me off - for heaven's sake, my 9200SE has got much faster memory than that!
I'd have bought a 9600 long ago if they had supplied it with 275Mhz memory but I suppose they didn't want to cut into their sales of the 9600 Pro.

Yeah I think your overclock for a non-XT card is right on the mark. Keep in mind you were under some impression that your card was really an XT in disguise. Right now you are getting similar overclocks to my 9800 pro which seems ok.

I know. :)
Overall I'm very happy. I ordered a Pro that's what I got. :)
My last 9800Pro128 would get 720 memory. But I'm guessing
the extra 128mb's of memory might have something to do
with the 20 extra mhz it's not getting.
I see a lot of post were 9800Pro owners cannot even reach 400 core.
I will say this tho. A 256mb 9800 card running at 440/700
is a d@mn power house from hell. "lol" :D hehehe
It cuts through games like hot butter.
If it does not run HL2 like a bat I'll eat my shorts.

So bkswaney, you orginally bought a 9800 Pro sold it for 5900 which you successfully flashed to 5950 then sold it back for a 9800 Pro? You could have spent $20 more and got a 9800 XT by Hercules from the egg. Your a crazy dude but good luck with that card....and please PM me first when your ready to sell this one.:D

Why? Do u not think an overclocked 9800 can run HL2?
I'm not saying 1600x1200 at 6xAA and 16xAF here.
Heck at 1600 with 6x and 16x I bet the R420 will be unplayable. ;)
But at the res I use it should be just dandy. 1024x768 with 2 or 4xAA and 8xAF should be most playable I would think. :)

Not sure why Asus can't sort "stupid doc" out by now they've been doing it since GF1
Ti4600 was the last Asus card I had and SD used to keep reporting false voltage and dead fan errors.
Anyway what version SD is it and does it monitor GPU & Ram temps? If possible can you post some screen shots of it please?
One thing you can try because it worked with My Asus GF3 & Ti4600 is monitor the temps in Motherboard Monitor, (it used to have support for the Ram & GPU temps, not sure if it still does). Monitoring it this way with alarms set in MBM might not cause the stuttering?? I don't think you even need the Smart Doc app installed doing it the MBM way....... can't be sure as I've slept since then ;)
