I run a Debian Sarge with 2.4.23 handmade Kernel and want to use my networking device. I prepared to install the nforce driver from tarball but that does not work. Can someone tell me what to do (where to get a .DEB Packet or where to find a HOWTO about)

Thanks

I too am having trouble with configuring my onboard Nforce2 NIC in Libranet ( 2.81) which is Debian based. Linux 2.4.21 kernel Any help would be appreciated. Also, if I haven't given enough info, let me know as I'm new to Linux.

You will need to install kernel headers for current running kernel, then go to the /usr/src and make the correct's paths...

try to make a symbolic link to the kernel-headers by

ln -s /usr/src/kernel-headers-<version> /usr/src/linux-`uname -r`

then try to compile again... I've it working with 2.4.24 kernel

Or you could just to build a 2.6.2, or later, kernel. It has support for the nForce2 nic (forcedeth) and soundcard by using alsa (intel8x0). Thats what I did.
