What a rip! only the artic silver pastes actually contain silver. The OCZ and CompUSA pastes don't contain any, despite the OCZ stuff claiming "Made with 99.9% pure micronized silver, Over 70% silver content by weight".

Do we really care as long as it is effective? I don't plan on doing any prospecting in my computer case.

Yup, OCZ is.

That's because people go look in their physics handbook, find silver and go 418 W/(m*K)!, oh damn, silver is teh good stuff!!11 It's got to be usefull in thermal pastes.

It's a marketing thing. If industrial diamonds ever get cheap enough and we are still using thermal pastes, don't be surprised to see diamond pastes(diamond has a thermal conductivity of ~1000 W/(m*K)).

If people know how well it performs and how easy it is to handle(and the manufacturer doesn't lie to them), why would they care if it's made of silver or recycled wax figurines?

Yeah who cares that it is advertised falsely:p

retuned mine today and they are sending me new past made by artic silver, a OZC t-shirt and a 10 dollar coupon of some duel chan OZC memory. :afro:
