From the start, myself, Udawg and several others believe (and I still do) that Iraq possesses (and has possesed) banned weapons. But again, from the start, neither of us were in support of the war for that reason alone.

I think the general consensus between myself and udawg is that the Persian Gulf war needed to end, and a terrible despot needed to be removed.

No WMD? No problem. It doesn't make the war any less justified in my mind.

agreed, hussein was a despot that needed ousting, but not by an illegal war of agression by a imperial nation. the war was not justified: from the start, it was argued that hussein had WMDs and was in breach of UN resolutions, blah blah blah, and that he posed a direct an imminent threat to the US. if what Powell says is true, than the war was based on a lie, and the American ppl have been cheated out of billions of $$ and hundreds of lives, just so Bush could help his chances of re-election.

there are more terrible despots running around the world terrorizing their people. where will the US strike next? who is safe? will the US exist in a perpetual state of war as they continue their holy crusade to rid the world of all evil-doers? since the US does not abide by the rule of law and international treaties, no one is safe.

(Clinton was impeached for lying to congress, why isn't Bush, for doing the same thing, lying to his gov't, the ppl, the international community).
