I had a rather good surprise yesterday. I had not been playing with my 5900 clocks for a while and with more and more people on the forums getting 5950's I felt the need of trying to get myself a free nv38. So I ran the 'auto-overclock' option in the nv control panel. Usually, the tool would test some clock speeds and decide that something like 460 core / 960 memory would be fine. It was the first time I ran the tool with the 53.03 drivers and strangely, it set the card's clocks to 531 core / 1000 memory  ! What's even stranger is the card was rock stable at these speeds. I played the FarCry demo for 30 minutes and ran some artefact detection tests without noticing one single artefact or lockup or anything at all. I then set the clocks down to the regular 5950's since I don't plan on buying a new graphic card before the nv45 is out and 475/950 should be sufficient enough for a while. Well, nothing but the driver version has changed in my rig since the last time I gave the 'autodetect' button a go... I hope my story will help some of you.

I had no problems running my 5900 at 475/950.
It should run those speeds 24/7 for a long, long time. ;)

bah, for brag factor you should run @ 500/1000 AT ALL TIMES... :p:p

;) Yeah, well... then he/I'd stupidly post some benchies and people would ask him/me questions and stuff... as for me, bragging is too much trouble and I'm much too lasy...
I'll probably try and overclock the hell out of this card when I'll order may next one though, for fun factor.
