I don't know if the Nv40 will have GDDR3 at the beggining! I hope they have :)
can someone explain what 16 z stencils tests per clock means and what it is in relation to what we have in nv3x and r3XX serias

ddr2 i think i good choice now that ddr2 are stable now!!
:headbang:
here we go again..
600mhz! core and 800mhz memory sounds good to me! :)
but i will like to see real benchmarks first!! :D

Yeah NV40 is AGP 8x only but here will be NV41, it is the same version as NV40 but use PCI Express. NV41 probably will launch at same time with NV40. :)
ahhhh... now Pci- Express... thats what I'm talking about :)
If the NV41 completely whips the ass of the R420, and has nice DX9 support, I would glady jump back over to Nvidia :) But this time I'm not putting any sticker on my case!!:D

I highly doubt you will see the x16 PCI-Express version of it anytime soon. Probably summer it will be introduced, with NV45 being introduced in fall and PCI-Express native (perhaps AGP through their bridge chip).

It means that, basically, the GPU is able to run as an 8x2 model for texturing etc, and as a 16x0 model when doing Z stencil tests. The same way that the NV3x works as a 4x2 model normally but can do 8x0 for Z stencil tests.
thanks surf monkey thats what i was looking for

Nvidia have made and showed off a AGP to PCI-X bridge so all they need to do is add another chip to the board to support it.
Although that stuff sounds pretty realistic and I've heard alot of it else where around the place. The R420 will have a lower clock then this.

I ain`t falling for this again. Not gonna bother looking at any new kids on the block till Christmas. And maybe for once nVidia got it right? And maybe they are delivering yet another dog.

actually the nv41 is just the PCI Express Bridge version of the nv40.
The graphiccard with native PCI Express support will be the nv45.
Nothing really new from 3dcenter, they basically repeat what Uttar and MuFu had revealed months ago, see the olders threads in this forum. :p
And shouldn't NV41 be the mainstream chip ala NV31/36?

I had a feeling it was going to be 8x2.
The R420 will be the same.
I really hope Nvidia takes back the crown this year.
Well, as long as they have good IQ and not
missing details like there cards are now.

i was thinking that very same thing

This info sounds really cool.
But i feel that pci express dosent do squat and potentualy hurts preformance if the chip wasent designed for it, i think it just makes it counter productive to keep briding it.

What about cooling? Is their any news on what sort of cooling mod this thing will have. If it launches with DDR2 thing will be getting rather hot in most people's cases. The 5800 Ultra was obnoxious but did a good job... for one side of the card. The giant heat spreader on the back simply dumped heat onto your CPU..
Maybe they will go all out and have it take up 3 PCI spaces with dual FlowFX :D
am i the only one that after reading that artical felt like i just had a conversation with voda !!! and what the heck do they mean oposite nv38 ???
rets:afro2:
It's a crappy german -> english conversion..
I hate reading those things cause i sware they make me stupider:bleh:
The specs.. well they are pretty much what i was expecting... i'm hoping i can hold out for an NV45 or of course, R450(if there is one). But it's going to be hard with all these next gen cards.. hell i want a faster video card just for the far cry demo:p i think my 9800pro has spoiled me with it's great ability to crunch through all games @ min 40FPS with 4xAA and 8xAF up until now.

If both cards will have same pipe configuration and similar ram speeds , final showdown will be in Pixel Shader calculations and efficiency of Driver Bandwith saveing techniques :o
Never in history both companys had so similar hardware, very interesting indeed

Not bad... that should ensure at least 50% higher speeds to boot in legacy games and even more on proper DX9 stuff.
