View Full Version : BFG 5950u bios wanted, PLEASE!
Hey all....First off, let me say what a COOL forum. Finally a place where I'm not going to here, "You shoulda bought a 9800." Sure ATI makes great cards but I'll take the ease and simplicity and overall coolness of Nvidia, thank you.
I just upgraded my Ti4200 128mb 8x to a BFG FX5900. (Man, the thing was only $170 with free fedex, free Tshirt, and free Call of Duty in the box!)
Anyway, I already flashed it with Leadtecs BIOS to the 5950u. However, I would LOVE to have the actual BFG 5950u BIOS.
I know someone here HAS to have it. Would someone please make my day and send it to me?
Thanking you in advance......

Albatron 5950 bios. Apparently, some of these bios's are harder to come buy than others.
The guy starting this thread at Guru3D is trying to collect VGA bios to start a bios website. Might want to check with him. I e-mailed him but haven't heard back:

Good luck :)

There isn't much difference between the bios's from different manufacturers. YOu can change the sub vender ID of the bios with X-bios which can be downloaded from guru3d.com. You can even edit the video boot up to your own message. Hehe. Mines says, "BFG FX5900 ultra @5950 ultra bios". :afro2:
True, but if I get the original munufacturers BIOS the VIVO will then work. I actually found a BFG 5950u BIOS yesterday, but the guy who posted it had overclocked it to a 510 core. I know the card can handle that with no problems, but I'd still like the factory default BFG 5950u with the 475 core...
So if someone out there has it...hint hint....
Thanks!
The only way you can get it is to find someone with the card and have them copy it. I sent an email to BFG and they are pretty staunch about not giving out BIOS download links. They said to flash the BIOS would cancel the life time warranty. Its the same reason their FTP is password protected.

True, but if anything ever happened to the card, I'd just flash it back to orig specs and they would never know.
I found 2 other BFG 5950U BIOS's today, just haven't tried em out yet.
Also, this card loves that flash. I don't even have it clocked that high yet. It's only at 510/975 right now and I've been playin on it all day long. It just rips through everything. What an improvement over my Ti4200 128mb 8x. (Although that Ti is still an awefully good card...)
My Albatron 5900pv wasnt a very good oc'er before, could only get 450/900 out of it before, flashed the Leadtek bios and it runs fine at 475/950 and up to 490/950.. ram seems to be stuck at that speed..
Never heard of a 5900PV.......
An Albatron 5900PV too. Awesome video card
Here is what it looks like:

Nice lookin card...
Here's (http://www.bfgtech.com/5900_redux.html) the link to the BFG that everyone's been talking about. I can't get enough of this card....:D
I watched a DVD on my comp today and the picture quality was amazing...way better than the Ti....way better.
That's weird yours is kind of stuck at those speeds. I've had mine at 510/975 all day long and it hasn't blinked.

yo got mail:D
what are the diferences between the fx5900 and the latest Fx5950?
only the 128megs more ram? and the retail clocks speeds?
does both cards have exactly the same DDR memory and 256bits memory bus?
i will like to see benchmarks of a cheap 5900 card (modded to 5950) versus a real fx5950.
im really thinking in getting one..
this price is too good to resist.. ->$155.00

but i wanted to Buy the higher Nv40 :(
It's pretty much just the 128mb of ram. Same DDR Ram and Memory bus. All that's missing is the memory on the card, everything else is the same. And you won't really miss the memory unless you play with aa and af jacked WAY up. Then the extra memory will help you.
But hell, look at the price difference. Plus you won't be able to notice the difference with a card that already screams like that.
might lift my heatsink from my card and see how well its seated, probably not too well.. I have gotten to 500/950 running 3dmark with some tearing in Test #4.. scored 6060 which is a top for me so far..
