Hello,

I have Problems using direct3d with my fx5200 in windows XP. everytime i try to use direct3d-functions, my system reboots immediatly, without bluescreen. The event log doesn't show any entries. dxdiag asks me on start if it should load direct3d, because last time there were some errors, but that doesn't help me.

Where can i begin to find the error (i can't find any logfile)?

Under linux i don't have problems using the graphics card, even with hardware acceleration.

My System: VIA KT400 Chipset, Athlon XP 2000+, Terratec Mystify 5200, Windows XP SP1, NVIDIA Driver 53.03.

the chipset drivers are the newest available, also winXP is up to date.

I hope u can help me

Andi

Sorry I can't help, I have no idea what it could be. Maybe if this thread is bumped up someone else can.

hello,

i found out that the VIA 4in1 drivers caused the errors. i uninstalled the agp-drivers and now i can use direct3d, but without agp-acceleration.

are there any alternative drivers for agp-acceleration on a kt400-chipset?

other tips like increasing the agp-voltage didn't help, too...

Andi

How about updating Direct X? The latest is 9.0b.
