Bwahahaha. It's good to see people put SCO in its place.

I hope SCO spends so much on legal fees that it puts them out of business. I do admire them for having the cajones to try and take on IBM though.

They do have a point though if their code is in their, it seems to me that the Linux community is doing its own bit of kicking and screaming because they can't get what they want.
Well, since they have so far refused say what code pieces they are talking about, and at the same time being in acute need of money, their suit doesn't look very credible.

What if they do show the code and it happens to be in there? I'm sure there will be many people in the Linux community that would carry on kicking and screaming abou it.

If it turns out the material is copied, it will be removed from source code and the community will move on. I can guarantee new code to replace the function of the old code would be put out very quickly, as the open-source community is pretty good about such things.
The Linux community is upset because a rich company like SCO is using the threat of legal action for code they have yet to prove is stolen to bully smaller companies into early settlements. All it amounts to now is an illegitmate method of gaining more money. That's what the fuss is about, that SCO can throw accusations around without ponying up any evidence whatsoever, thankfully the US legal system knows better.

if SCO said, "Hey, Linux is infringing," and showed exactly where it was infringing, it would be dealt with, IBM would pay damages, etc. SCO hasn't done this. SCO has said "OMGWTF YOU R STEALING OUR CODEZ!!111" and then sued the crap out of everyone. Not a good plan.
