:cool::cool::cool:

Get ready fellow Firebird followers :D

It's Monday February 9 now. This is the first time I've been confident enough to give a date. This release is going to be the best Firebird yet.

linky (http://www.squarefree.com/archives/000301.html)

FYI, this will be a "milestone" release which is diff from the "trunk" builds that released nightly...

Yay!

I hope they fix the cookies going borked every now and then...i browse with cookies on nvnews forums as well as others (vbulletin) but for some reason, firebird somehow manages to lose the cookie settings :( This is for version .7

I hope .8 brings a stop to me losing me cookies!!!

It's now called FireFox. It's here:

I still prefer Opera, though.

Thanks for the info, I love the FAQ (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/firefox-name-faq.html) questions, lol.

But I hate the new name. It's stupid

Our editors are trying to figure out if this is a question.

Argh, mozilla's server seems down right now......trying to connect to it until I'm timed out. Oh well, maybe I'll try to get firefox later.

Apparently the maker is a fan of old Clint Eastwood films.

I think they should have went when the name "Dirty Harry". :D

There should be a list of mirrors on the Mozilla website, and you might be able to get some builds from Pryan at www.pryan.org/firebird.

BTW, hi :)

d00d, 5w337!

I was able to pull it off the Mozilla FTP earlier this morning, but I'm definitely gonna try this out.

The name still sucks, though. Firebird was cool, this one is :lame:

I can't wait to fire this one up. I've always been game for an alternate browser, but none of them had any kind of staying power with me until Firebird/fox/bat/hyena. This is the best browser I've ever laid my hands on; 0.8 should be awesome.

... c'mon, download...

Well, this sucks cause I've got to redownload all of my extensions which I cannot find. I guess other than that and the stupid new name, it's great. Any thing is better than IE right :P

One thing I have not been able to figure out is how to back up extensions so I won't have to download them every time I install a new build. Can anyone provide some insight into this?

You do realize that's merely a shell for IE? :eek2:

I still use it (when I absolutely must use IE) but open sores is teh r00ls! :D

I have been trying to get my extensions working again for hours. Your best bet is just to delete your current profile (after exporting your bookmarks to re-import) and start anew. I still haven't been able to get "IE View" to work in Firefox yet. I'm doing one last clean install with installing that one first to see if it works.

I've been getting all my extensions from here - http://extensionroom.mozdev.org/

EDIT: Ok, I got IE View working now by installing it first. I was worried because it crashed when I installed it.

(That what I also use to download my extensions).

Wait till you get to the third page. That's where the fun really starts ;)

merely?

I'm not sure I understand. You actually think Mozilla is a better browser engine than IE?

LOL
oh man, that's rich.

It's superior.

And Firefox ? Eh ?

Firebird, was a great name.

And all because of Clint Eastwood ?

Still, I suppose it's better than Mozilla Honkeytonk :p

Anyone know if this version breaks any extensions ?
I don't want to lose Adblock, etc..

oh man, that's rich.

It is. It renders faster, uses less memory, and complies with XHMTL, DHTML, and CSS standards. IE does not.

Admittedly I haven't used Mozilla in any of its most recent incarnations, but in the past it has always been one buggy, bloated, non-complying bastard of a web browser. As a web designer no browser gave me more trouble than Mozilla or Netscape.
