Right now any K8T800 based board....
If you can wait a month or two or so any NF3-250 based board....

Got tired of waiting :D and my dad wants my old cpu+mobo+ram computer so im gonna build small upgrade and wait for next gen video cards :D
AOPEN AK86L VIA K8T800 (read some reviews looks good mobo)
Athlon 64 3200 (read reviews difference from 3400 is not that huge and saves me few bucks)
Kingstone 2x512 3200 DDR400 (with BH5 chips hopefully)
abit over 600$ thats good prise for me.

Sounds good to me....
I'm waiting for the official release of NF3-250 and dependant on certain things it'll be a 939 pin CPU in mine (prob an AthlonFX53 if I can get my hands on one somehow or other), a gig of RAM and probably an Audigy 2 (or 3 if it's out then) for sound.... gfx card will be whatever is better out of R420 and NV40....
not long to wait now... ugh lol
Jim don't worry mate, the longer you wait the cheaper things get :)... that is what I keep telling myself anyway :).

heh - only prob is i'm waiting for the new technology.... so i *know* it'll be pricy when i get it....
ah well it'll be worth it.... but AMD have put back 939 pin *again* - I want my 939pin nf3-50 dammit! lol
ah well mebbe i can time it with a pay rise and bonus... i am due soon after all...

Yeah at first i was gonna wait for 939 and FX53 or better , but then i figured FX line of CPU's cost like arm and a leg to buy :eek2: , and 939 regular CPU's will have half cash but better memmory bandwith... ultimately speed between the two woun't be big i think , difference like from 300fps to 340fps , is not worth extra 300$ or more :p offcourse 939 would be better long term investment , but by then something better could be out ;)
if you are still looking for a 754 socket board.. the msi k8t800 is an excellent board for speed/performance/functionality...
MSI make decent boards but if you are looking into overclocking look elsewhere. I myself would say get the ASUS K8V DELUXE.

msi's oc'ing is on par or better with their current gen of boards (ie p4 and a64) with the top dogs :)
Yeah well currently i use an MSI board and think it could do better.

socket A is a whole other story :)
but I have used msi's p4 800mhz board and I have used their a64 board and both oc'd like a dream and were feature abundant...
that and I quite enjoy core-cell :) specially on the p4 setup...

What is the exact MSI socket 754 motherboard model number that you are recommending. I am right about to invest in an Athlon 64 proc and mobo but am at a loss as to what board to get. From what I have read none of the current A64 chipsets are good overclockers. Any advice will be appreciated.

well... basically it comes to a question of pci/agp locks...
I have no problems with stability with an fsb of 215 on my rig... aircooled... the temps do not seem to vary much either on idle...
the msi board I use is in my sig... its a pretty good oc'er and has a lot of features and comes in about 50-70 dollars cheaper than some of the other boards.. I had a neo fisr 865PE board from msi as well and loved it for its features...
I have heard good things about the upcoming nf3-250 board as well but there is a (afaik) pci/agp lock coming out for the via chipsets... right now its not a hardlock... its sort of a floating lock which still adds to the clocks... but for me I have had no stability problems thus far..
I'll second Sazar's evaluation of this board. I have experienced no problems, very stable board with a lot of options. Running 220-225MHz FSB stable.
Lots of people doing 225 - 230fsb + with the MSI board, plus Promise SATA Raid as opposed to Silicon Image is nice...
My Boss just got a A64 3200+ and the MSI Board and i have to say im super impressed. I never would of looked MSI's way but seeing this board in person has changed my mind. Dynamic Overclocking is a pretty interesting option.
Also, i dont know how much truth is behind this rumor, but something about the next Bios version for the MSI board going to lock AGP/PCI bus.

Now you're talkin'! That would put this board at the top of the heap, IMO.
This is my first MSI board. I always heard about good quality and stability in reference to MSI but so, so on overclocking.
Well it's said that the K8KT800 can have a lock PCI/AGP bus but it wasn't implemented when it came out and was possbile by BIOS update.

Question what memory timeings you use to get lets say 220 , there is just to many of them in Bios
My ram does 2-2-2-6-11-16 on 200 , but doesn't stay stable at 210, should i try 2-3-3-6-11-16 ? don't like crashing windows.....:(
