okay - so i'm a n00b on computers, i mostly play games and edit audio with them.

so, my band is working on our website soon, and we're using images we download from the net for collages and altering...

but everytime i click save image, IE only lets me save jpgs as BITMAPS and nothing else. sometimes i'll be able to save a GIF in it's original format, but not always.

why the force on bitmaps? are there settings within windows that i can alter to get the original tags back, so i don't have to do a stupid extra step in MSpaint?

i'm on Win2k.
thanks

Well, I once had this problem too, but I'm a bit rough on the edge so I just format/re-installed XP. Yeah, I know how to talk to computers.
Anyway, you'd rather ask for help either here :

or here :

thanks I'd bet that your view source icon in the IE bar is grayed out right now as well. Clear your cache and you'll be fine.

The only thing I realized is that when you want to save an image and it reads untitled.bmp, it's because:
1) The pic didn't download completely and IE stopped it by timeout.
2) It wasn't saved in the Temporary Internet Files.

If a refresh doesn't fix it, try clearing the internet cache, as suggested above.
Do you have IE6 SP1? If not, try updating it.

What you can do, although it's not a solution but a work-around, it's downloading the file by reading its url. If you have GetRight, you can just right-click on the image and choose Download with GetRight, and you get the pic.
