I played Painkiller. mmm what a game. Maxed details 1280*1024 AA4x AF8x and my Radeon 9800XT is eating this game.

All games with Nvidia logo are running frawless. Seems that ATI cards like it.

THANKS NVIDIA!

No AA here. I suppose I'll have to turn off the cool blurring effects like always. Anyway, this game is freakin' sweet. Staking someone to a wall and watching them dangle is a real treat.

I read somewhere that AA will run, it's just that you have to set it from within the game.

I set it from outside the game and it worked fine.

Oh well, another game I can't play on my 130dollar video card....

65-126 fps just don't cut it..

65-126 fps don't cut it? Isn't that performance what most people hope for, on all their games.

Yup .. Painkiller demo is running smooth for me 1024x768 , 6xAA,16xAF on 9800XT ( avarage of 30+fps in complex sences & large places )

runs like crap if used 6xAA on 5900u ( 15 avarage in large places )

i like Nvidia but come one! this game is TIMTBP!! all this co-op with Dream Catcher & it ends up like this!
what a shame :o

Yeah, it's a damn shame that DC can't fix NV's slow 6xAA!!!1111

Heh, if you played at a higher resolution you wouldn't need 6xAA. :) j/k

playing at 1280x1024 , 2x or 4x AA dips the framerate to 20s & thats wasent good for me , 1024x768 , 4xAA is the best way to play it on 5900u as i tested so far .
i really cant see a big diffrenece between 4x & 6x .. but at least the weapon models will look better with far less jaggies on 6x .
i'm just being surprised why the performance reduce to 50% when changing between 4x to 6x !
i remeber playing NFSU with 1280x1024, 6xAA 8xAF & the game was running fine on my 5900u system!

as for UT2K4 demo .. yeah its playable with smooth framerate for , 1280x1024,4xAA 8xAF :)

I'm using 3.7 cats too! those are the best so far .
used them with UT2004 & FC & Pk demos & all running just great !

Urrm, correct me if im wrong (and i dont think i am) but NVIDIA's 6x is 6xS. You are comparing ATI's 6x to NVIDIA's 6xS??

Personally though i prefer higher resolutions to higher AA.
ATI's AA implimentation isnt perfect mind you, i was running MOHAA : Spearhead on a 9800pro. 1152x864.. 6x AA. I could still see jaggies on the barrel of the weapons. VERY annoying. Not tried it with Nvidia but i believe their implimentation handles 90* angles better? So the jaggies on the weapons would have been less noticable. :) Oh well, pays your money and takes your choice i guess.

Well Painkiller demo is running very nice indeed, playing at 1280x1024/FSAA x4/AFx4 and getting a average of about 40fps.

By the way why is it that in some way ATI cards are not supposted to play any better than "The way it's meant to be played" games!

Charactershadows slow down my R9800 XT though by a lot, what's the impact for nVidia cards?

Hmm, i can't say ive ever had to disable shadows to speed up a game. I play Morrowind and a lot of people say to turn off realtime shadows to improve performance but it never seems to make much difference to me...

Not sure how this will be used in future...

Though. I seem to remember someone saying Doom3 will make good use of it. :)

When I start the palacemap (level3), my frames are dipping into the 20's with shadows enabled in 1280x1024 16 AF (performance) without, it stays arround 90 (which is my refrashrate as I play with v-sync.)

I remember that Doom3 will use stencil shadows which are much faster on Nvidia cards this maybe why there is not much of a performance hit.
