Man I thought some of THG aricles were quite baised (towards intel/nvidia) but my god this is the biggest intel fanboy aricle I have ever read.....even puts Malfunction to shame........ I think its time 99% of the ppl over their are fired......and no I didnt read this by just looking there on my own I only went there after hearing what was going on.
its an opinion piece... take it as such :)
this lad does not seem to understand how some companies operate... ie look @ dell... there are very specific reasons for them to stick with intel that not many people understand...

LMAO... that was a funny piece and should be taken as such. Only time will tell if there is any truth to it. I laughed, I cried... it was great I tell you, just great. :D
We shall see. I really hope AMD can come through, they need to and it would be great for them. However like I said before reading this vent, AMD has a lot to loose this time around should they make the same mistake they did with the Athlon. For the sake of competition and lower prices, I hope the don't muff this one up.
Peace,
:afro:
Tom fails to realize that Intel was forced to move to 64bit, even worse, they had to do it the AMD way.
We don't know if intel will be faster or slower than AMD in 64bit code. My vote is for the latter, altough ht and SSE3 may level things up.
Anyway, this is great news for AMD. this will make the adoption of 64bit computing much faster, specially in the workstation/server market where the opteron performs faster than the Xeon, has orders of magnitude higher memory bandwith and is capable of having up to 8 processors vs Xeon 4.
LMAO he’s a hypocrite, AMD fans bash Intel fans yet he’s bashing AMD fans so he’s sunken to their level. He reminds me of the Stroligo at overclockers.com
haha jus read it...pretty lame.
Yeah I read it this morning, if you look at the end he is just trying to stir controversy and get people to look at his site. While he does have some valid poits mostly he just looks stupid.

Omid is a loser who's only recourse to stay relevant as a "journalist" is to post flame bait. He's the type of guy that will wear a tank-top and cutoff shorts and stroll around a gay bar just to get noticed (because otherwise, no one would care).
If Omid didn't post his usual anti-AMD flame bait, no one would give a rats ass about him, because without the controversy, he has the impact of a mouse fart.
The fact is, Omid can't see past his own sand dune and camel.
P.S. You know, I WAS going to buy an Intel based SSF system, but then I woke up and realized Intel chips are overpriced pieces of crap which rely on gimmicks (quad-pumped FSB, hyper threading, SSE2) to cover up it's low grade clock performance.

If Intel's 64-bit solution is based on Prescott, it's allready over.
Why?
Joel @ Sudhian said it best ...
Compare, for a moment, the idea of 500 Prescott workstations vs. 500 Athlon 64 3200+ workstations. Your 500 Prescott workstations pump out 96,000 watts of energy -- your 500 Athlon 64 3200+'s are pumping 35,850.
Think that'd make a difference in the yearly air conditioning bill?
Depite whatever rabbit Intel can pull out their hats, I see the IT industry flocking to AMD64 because of their bottom line. The last thing any IT department head wants to deal with this Spring/Summer is a slew of workstations burning up because of brownouts or the building's air conditioning is on the fritz. In such a common scenario, the idea of AMD64 workstations has got to be much more attractive than the rolling kerosene heaters with "Intel Inside"! :p

Damn... This really blows. Work uses Dells which ofcourse means Prescotts. They haven't got any of these prescott based PCs in yet (still using optiplex gx270 machines) but I'm going to try and remember to talk to my boss about this next week and ask that at the very least they get a few of the prescott based ones in to test with before they go order 200 of them.

CnQ is a lovely implementation and I will attest it definitely helps reduce system temps across the board... and in my case/room :D
btw it is certainly interesting to see the thermal tables turn on Intel after a couple of years of frying-egg jokes for amd users... and oh how they have turned...

One CPU design (Prescott) vs. Duron/Athlon which was AMD's entire product line of CPU's... I dunno if I would be confident enough to say that.
Peace,

the only problem was that while with added heat the p4 did not burn up (it reduced clocks) the athlon/duron did not..
in terms of how hot they run there is little difference... :)
IF the socketA cpu's had a heatspreader the temps would have been a lot lower anyways by the very nature of how things work vis a vis displacement..
the fact my 1900+ ran so much cooler than my 3.0C was also shocking given the massive heatsink I had on my 3.0C and the heatspreader but I gathered the canterwoods actually did run a little hot and that was ok...
now since prescott is a line for intel... until such a time as they actually can reduce the heat produced it will continue to be called a hot processor m8..
heatspreaders DO NOT work people have taken them off the Athlon 64 and the Pentium4 and it reduced temps however it makes the cores more fragile. So, the so called heatspreaders just help even the pressure from the HSF and stop it from crushing the cores.

lmfao, what a moron:
Blah intel rulez blah blah amd cant do **** blah blah 64bit AMD is crap because Intel already announced their 64bit cpu blah while we laugh at the meaningless drivel that is the forum chatter around 64 bit extensions blah blah...
Why has Intel done this?
1. Blah blah
1. They can.
1. Sun.
1. They can.
wtf? Is this suposed to be journalism? The guy is a joke and he nees better history lessons:
"like the great arms race of the 80s, which ultimately resulted in the Soviet Union bankrupting itself trying to keep up with Ronald Reagan's America"
And the guy actualy thinks Intel doesnt fear Microsoft, ROFL:
The non-Microsoft world is opening up. It's actually looking real good.
It saves you buckets of money.
It's maverick. You are the one with the control
It's not for sheep.
Bee anyone?
The guy must be very popular :afro:

hmm.. not heard that before :)
can understand it for the a64's though... about 75lb of pressure applied using the new retention mechanism...
they should change the name then init? from heatspreader to pressure spreader..

Unlike AMD lovers, I can dish it, and I can take it (I couldn't resist that one). In the midst of all the usual childish name calling, and twelve year old scribble that passes for flames these days, I got this comment from Todd Anderson, a healthy reader with no obvious social problems:
"It bothers you that not everyone conforms to your custom list of terms? Sorry if that sounds just a bit arrogant. Try this on. If someone walked up to you in your Jaguar and said "Jaguar lovers are idiots", would you be offended? Even if you don't love the car, you are driving it. Think about it."
First of all, the mere fact that he thinks I can even afford a Jaguar endears him to me, and second of all he is right. Satire just doesn't work on THG, or with AMD fanboys. So, there are alternative opinions. Bruce Gain, one of our own editors, has his contrary take, and now, we have Tobias Henderson, who wrote this eloquent piece.
Why can't we all just learn to get along? I still think AMD fanboys need to learn to laugh at themselves instead of sneering at everyone who isn't "one of them."
Love and Peace,
Omid
There... THG apologizes to you all. (fart) lol :D
