I have an even sadder story. A couple years back I went to see a band called the Tea Party. During they finale before the encore they went into a multi song rendition of a few rock classics. They covered Paint it Black, as well as Zep's Kashmir. I was with a roommate of mine at the time. When the band went into Kashmir she proclaimed " OMG I know this song, its that puff daddy song. I can't believe they're covering puff daddy!" I looked at her and mentioned that it wasn't a puff daddy song. She flipped out saying yeah puff daddy wrote it first. She had no clue that the original was written over 20 years prior by Led Zep. She said no way and continued to argue.

What the real shame is, is that half the kids today don't know that 90% of their songs are stolen from prior classics. Its a disgrace I think.

Well, you can actually hear some VERY good music with some shouts... For example, In Flames has some excellent songs (not for everyone, you need a hard ear); Episode 666, Ordinary Story and Free Fall are my favourites.

BTW, how many Back Street Boys or The Five style groups appeared after them? :o

Uhh....ignorant?

I appreciate your feelings have been hurt because a few people don't like your music, but it DOES sound like they are just growling and shouting at the mic. I know they harmoize with the music, I know they use a quasi-note structure to get their sound to work with the music..it's technical and all....

But you just can't get all mad when some people think it sucks.

Or maybe I've just learned to put up with people's lack of knowledge on certain aspects of culture as a car salesman.
