Does anyone know how good Matrox's linux driver support is for viddy cards???
If it's good, then ATI linux users might be happy soon.

I got the info from my gf, who is good friends with the particular person...I had asked the question regarding Matrox's drivers, because i'm a big fan of ATI at the moment, and i was happy to hear that he was going there to work on there Linux drivers (not going to give out his name, don't want to get him in trouble already)

Latest I heard ATI hired a few Linux guys.
It's just unfortunate that the fruits of their labor won't get seen for a long time to come.
as are nvidia

ATI hired them within the last month, that position was filled years ago...ontop of already having robust linux developers.

I found out from Terry Makedon and Matthew Tippett, as well as from ATI's job postings on their website.

Good then, part of its advantage is that it weeds out imbeciles. Try changing 3D drivers without rebooting in Windows and see what happens.

no, the nvidia job
and:
$ splat nvidia-kernel
* media-video/nvidia-glx-1.0.5336-r1
Emerged at: Mon Mar 22 23:07:39 2004
Build time: 19 seconds
$ splat nvidia-glx
* media-video/nvidia-glx-1.0.5341
Emerged at: Thu Mar 25 03:59:22 2004
Build time: 9 seconds
then hit ctrl + alt + backspace

nVidia stuff use to trickle to me through Nick Triantos, I don't hardly talk to Dwight anymore.
Plus I spent a bit of time w/CreativeLabs and know some people from when I worked there. Mainly with Steve Mosher at Creative I got hooked up to some of the nVidia folk.
Geoff Ballew also use to communicate stuff at conventions and such. I've been out of the loop with nVidia lately though.
btw, a gentooer eh??
