Many thought R420's NDA will expire at Cebit, that not the case so everybody will have to sign NDA in blood (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=14433) to see R420 behind closed doors under heavily guarded.

ATI partners still not got R420 cards ready to show off in Cebit, they all are not very happy with no R420. I think things are not look good for ATI so R420 wont be launch this month at all, I guess it will be ready to launch in April. ATI want to keep everything quiet before the right time to launch, I think R420 do have some issues with TSMC's 0.13 micron technology.

It may look like NV40 will launch this month first. :)

I thought ATI did had sent engineering samples to its AIB partners? I read that somewhere. As for things not looking good, you shouldn't really forecast things us in the general public are not privy too. We should all wait patiently till launch of the respective cards. Speculating about specs is fun but writing them off prematurely is best left to ..... ;)

/me goes and baits nails while patiently waiting for launch.

engineering samples are one thing muya.. :)

consider dell tests intel solutions and mobo's months before anything actually comes even close to shipping... expect a similar circumstance around the AIB partners.. but whether they can actually show their products is a different story...

Unfortunately it looks like NV40 is pushed back too :(

Hopefully information will leak out of Cebit and GDC though.

And the NV40 was already pushed to April, so where this leaves us?

Is it possible they are waiting for intel to release their PCI Express motherboards?;)

I wouldn't fancy an nv40 and a Prescott in the same case to be honest, I think a nice AMD3700+ or FX53 would be better ...mmmmmmmmm

My understanding was that that the launch was never for Cebit. Last thing I heard was that they were talking about "months" plural before IDF

Something is passing behind the lines.... we don't know but it seems both companies are trying to guess each other....
Maybe Nv told 16 pipes just to see what would be Ati reaction.... and give some info about their r420..
I think both companies have 2 choices in hand.... two cards... and both wait for the first to come out with specs.... and then attack with the more powerfull card...:)

I think one card, but rejigging is in order.

If nVidia hadn't got such a pasting over nv30 paper launch I think they might have gone already.

However ATI have had in effect two delays, HL2 and now this.

It's getting to be a game of poker. Who has got the better hand ?
:D
