View Full Version : Man, I'm going to miss my GF3 Ti 500!
I just ordered the sapphire 9800pro for 208 from newegg. I will really miss my ti500s stability. Never had a single issue in games. Hopefully ati will supprise me.

Although ati has come under fire for their drivers in the past dont let that worry you zarich, things are MUCH different nowadays...
I can honestly say that after using my 9800 since the first week of its availability it has been as rock solid as any nvidia card I've ever used.
208 is a great price man, paid 400 US for mine... isnt competition wonderful.:)
Honestly, I dun miss any of my cards from the riva128 to the last ti4200. I erm, always getting better perfoming ones :D
ATI drivers seems to have a number of issues but, generaly my 9700Pro runs well and fast with no probs. Well except Need For Speed Underground. It runs slower with Cat 4.2!
From what I have read......ATI has come along way, but they do still have driver problems. As far as Im aware, there inst one driver that doesnt have any problems, but for the most part, you wont have any problems runny any games, even if it means changing between drivers. Dont get me wrong, Nvidia still has some driver problems also, just not as many, I just got Mafia, and I cant force AF, for eg.
The 9800pro is a great card, you should be very happy with it :)
im suffering a bit from buyers remorse right now.. not that I shouldnt have gotten the 9800pro.. I am just a big fan of nvidia.. never used AA or AF so they arent a big issue with me, but strong compatibility and decent speed are... the ti500 has served me so well.

Never used them? You will be in for a pleasant surprise with your 9800 pro. Try 4 AA and 8 AF. They are more than sufficient for good quality images and they hardly phase that card.
You should experiment with drivers in my opinion. Some people even use a combination of them, because Ati has greatly improved OGL. I like the cat 3.5s with the 3.8s OGL.
If you don't want to be bother with that simply use the latest drivers available.
Its a very good card and a steal at that price.

Well ati and nvidia both have their share of bugs . But i notice a lot more systemcrashes related to ati bugs, most of nvidia bugs are quality related issues.
btw i've got a 5950 and still dont use fsaa or ani , i really dont see the difference when i'm playing quake.

If you don't plan on using that sort of power, then why buy such a high end card? Without AA or AF the 5700nu or 9600p should do fine.
I will say that I have tried af and aa on my ti500, but it really killed fps. So I am looking forward to playing some jaggie free games for the first time ever!

Well im a hardcore first person shooter gamer, so fps is what counts, eye candy is second. For me it matters if my fps are always 125+

Well I went from a TI4600 to a 9800pro ,and I never had no problems with the TI4600,but the 9800pro has so much better IQ and the drivers everbody talks about with ATI are just as good as nvidia'sIMO,No driver is perfect but they are not half as bad as I keep hearing.
