Anybody know of a place to get a cd of this without paying the $30 or whatever it is... i mean, since the download is free anyway. I spent 3 days downloading the ISO on my crappy 56k modem, and then it didn't even work! ARGH! Help, please.

Try surfing your local linux forums - I know there's a nice guy here in aus willing to burn the iso to a cd and mail it to you for the cost of the blank and posting. if your in a resonable size city, you might be able to find a linux user group you could hook up with. they could do you a copy.. anyway, have a look around forums. being on another contentent, it's probably not worth your while me sending you the copys, but if you're in aus too I wouldn't mind.

btw, mandrake 9 is definatly worth a look - was playing with it last night and everything works very nicely :)

I'm in the Washington D.C. area (southern maryland). Is there anyone around who lives near me that wouldn't mind doing something like that?

A lot of people on ebay are offering many different distros for 5-10 dollars. I am sure you can get the latest download releases of any of them there.

i've been saying since win 3.1, if this screws up on me 1 more time, i'm throwing the computer out the window... now i know Linux, so i've been saying if Windows screws up one more time... I'm switching!

How well does Linux handle games? I'm going to do a dual boot so i can still do everything, but i'd like to be primarily on linux
