then the nv40 sounds very disappointing. I am hoping its the old nv40 they have that has been cancelled. the new nv40 is too early for anyone to have samples yet though.

mmm.. im afraid that you will need skip this entire generation and wait for directx10 cards then ...something like R500 and NV50 .
to not feel "dissapointed" .because it has been said many times that the R420 is a 160 millions transistor part.. and support only for PS2.0.. the "old" Nv40 was 175million trans +PS3.0 ;)

so in features alone ,(if we take INQ info as a fact ),the NV40 looks to be much less dissapointing than the R420. :) its very early to declare "winners" or "losers" until we see benchmarks in the games that everyone is waiting ,and complete reviews with IQ comparisons of each card. ;)

Don't be too down about clock speed... remember the original Geforce?

I recall the TNT2 at 200mhz+ when the 125mhz Geforce came out and beat it by a thousand times.

the tnt2u was 150/175 and the gefoce classic at 120/166 but the geforce's core had twice the pipelines thats why it was so fast
