Forgive the ignorance... This still requires ECC memory right?

Damn. They're going to have to change that before they get my $$. I can't swallow parting with my Mushkin. :)

I could, but I'd be sacrificing performance (at least as far as the memory goes) not to mention the fact I don't want to get stuck with a set of DIMMs that won't be usable on the next generation of motherboards. They are going away from this ECC requirement is that correct?
socket 939's will be out soon rip :)
from my work on the 64bit processors so far.. there appear to be a few more things that are either not exposed yet (ie CnQ is not exposed on all mobos YET or the AV thinger they have which is supposed to be released @ sp2) but also a few other things which MAY be implemented but are not right now..
I still wanna see what amd does with the PNI... ie IF they can do anything with it...
Very impressive, FX's are worth buying again - top end performance for a price less than the 'slower' competing top-end CPU's
Still not better than intel at gaming thou.
Where do you get that from? The Athlons are better at gaming while the Pentium4's are better at encoding.

Sorry dint specify, i was talking abt in openGL;). I know it is more "brute" force depended but i thought 53 would be faster. Mehh.. anyways that doesn't mean im putting athlon down but i just expected THIS one to be faster at openGL, thats all.

Athlons have always been faster in games. (i.e. the stuff that matters ;) )
Are you talking about specpref benches?

afaik and have seen it still IS faster in games... incl ogl games than intel's solutions...

It does very well in RTCW.. so obviously it's not an OpenGL specific thing at all.
