Hi guys......Just a couple of questions I'm hoping yu can answer for me.

With the Global Settings feature, if yu play the majority of yur games at, for example, 4XAA/8XAF with Image settings at Quality etc, can yu make that yur default setting for Global Settings or should yu leave at default which, from memory, is basically application controlled ?
If yu are abled to make Global Settings what ever yu like, can yu then go in and create cutom profiles with different settings ?

What about the predefined settings....e.g. with Splinter Cell which doesn't recognise AA, I find yu are unable to change the AA setting as yu get a message "This option is disabled because a predefined default prevents modifications to settings".
Does that mean despite the AA setting showing a value of 4X, it really isn't enabled ?? I was under the impression that any box left unchecked in settings used whatever yu had Global Settings at.

What ever advice yu can offer is appreciated

cheers

I'd set the global options to be what you want to use for most of the games and then just create a custom profile when a particular game can't use those settings (or doesn't run well with those settings). The first time I tried it, I left them at app. control and then created a custom profile for every game I had (not sure what the heck I was thinking). Then I discovered that I lost all those settings when trying different drivers etc.. So, I wanted something that wouldn't be such a pain to redo. Now I do what I mentioned initially. Also, once I found that you could have more than one game associated with a custom profile I started doing some of that as well.

In games such as Splinter Cell, the AA is disabled b/c it doesn't work in that game (Halo is another). So, that's why the control is deactivated (even though the value it shows is probably the global or whatever the last selected was, it won't actually do anything).

Hi OWA.....Many thks for responding. I kinda figured what yu have suggested was the way to go about it, but appreciate yu confirming it.

I initially did exactly the same as yu and now have all these game profiles with basically all the same settings !! After reading yur suggestions I figure that's kinda dum, so will go into Global Settings and make one lot of settings that will cover all games and then create just some custom profiles for those that I want different.

Many thanks again

cheers

If someone wants to Save and Backup his personal Gameprofilesettings
you should backup this File before you install new DRIVERs 56.64+

C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvapps.xml

You can edit this *.XML also with Frontpage if you want insert quickly
Settings from an newer Driver and newer nvapps.xml
then there are Some Optimations für OPENGL Games like MohAA and MoHAA Addons for Compatibiliy (where some OpenGL Extension where disabled for that.)

I just create the best settings possible and check thsoe for all teh games i have and then i dont have to touch the settings ever again, because it auto loads the profile when the game is launched. I set them up for raven shield, farcry, ut2004 etc..
