From Outlook... I'm using 2002 and I would like to switch over to a different client. The only issue is that I have tons of stored mail in my PST and calendar appointments I'm not real thrilled to lose. Is there any client out there that has an import function that will take these items without screwing them up in one way or another? Eudora says it will but it never seems to work whenever I've tried to do the import. I want something that *just works* and doesn't require fecking around with.
Ideas anyone?

Opera or Eudora perhaps? I don't use Outlook any more, just the web mail client for my ISP (works wonders).

Well I have Opera so I'll take a look at that. But Eudora's import function never worked for me... Always came back with some error that I can't remember right now. I gave up on that one.

I use Mozilla Mail. It fits my needs rather well.

Yes, but will it import PST files from Outlook??

Mozilla Thunderbird is the client I use, and it rocks; the intelligent SPAM-filtering stuff is pretty impressive too. I know it can import mail, address books, and settings from Outlook, but I'm not sure about the calendar stuff.

I'll D/L it and give it a try. What's the worse that can happen? I'd just need to uninstall if it won't import those PST items. The calendar stuff is less of an issue than the e-mail as far as losing stuff goes. I'll just have to enter everyone's birthdays again. :)

Tried Thunderbird... and it worked fine. It imported my mail and also my saved items and contacts from outlook OK. It has no calendar, so ofcourse no import there. One minor gripe - you have to keep outlook installed or it can't import. In other words, it won't import from a PST so you have to keep outlook on there while you do it which is kind of lame. I had to reinstall outlook and get my account setup again because I screwed up. Nice program that Thunderbird is though... and free. :)
