I was just about to link that. ^_^

An interesting tidbit lies here:

However whilst our earlier information indicated that it comprised of 205 -210 million transistors, our sources currently say that what we were holding was a 175 million transistor part.

If correct, does this mean we WILL be seeing NV40 in its original form quite soon? Could validate many people's view that nVidia will have a card soon AND those who think the ~205 million beastie we were expecting will have larger delay problems. It would at least allow them to not lose ground to (or even get the jump on) R420, and let them finalize their other chip in the usual refresh schedule--which in this case would be a much bigger refresh than normal. Hehe...

Only problem is if the NV40 in that form loses enough ground to R420, it could lose lots of sales to begin with, and not attract enough attention even should NV45 (or whatever) trump it by a lot later on.

Hmm... So much speculation, so little time! :p

Doesn't XGI's Volari V8 Duo have dual molex connectors?

Yes they do...

r420 will not use additional power molex at all, and that tells me that ATI ingineers are superior...

After all we can see the same scenario Radeon 9700Pro VS GFX 5800Ultra lol

And your source of this information is?!?

I think R420 will require additional power as well.

Supposed pics of the r420 don't show a molex.

Edit: apologies, the pic is apparently the r423. PCI-E. AGP will likely need additional power (just a guess).

The only reason for nVidia to provide the Inquirer with a board would be for propaganda purposes only. This would mark the start of their propaganda campaign if true.

Since NV40 (originally 6x2) is update of NV3x, design is (redesign due ATI's 12x1) 8x2, but sometimes works as 16x1 (Doom III)...
R420 is pure 12x1, and I guess r420 will be faster in DX 9.0 applications, slower in OpenGL.

How do u figure that?

The so called 420 pics are of PCI-E. It carries more voltage.
The NV40 is an AGP card. The NV45 might not need the extra connectors being it's pci-e.

Then again a 16pipe card might need a bit more power than a 12.

Time will tell. :)

Wow, that is cool information from the Inq's part, and i do suspect they arent BSing us this time, because they are not makeing outrageous claims : D

But yeah, Volari has dual molex, so i picture it to look alot like that, but my question still is.

Arent all the molex plugs connected together in the PS? So why cant you just pull more current from one than haveing 2 that are on the same wire?

No, it's 8x2 card, sometimes works as 16x1 (Doom 3)...

DX9.0 (FP16, FP32) NVIDIA 8x2 --> 8x1 vs DX9.0 (FP24) ATI 12x1 ATI Winner
DOOM3 NVIDIA 8x2 --> 16x1 vs DOOM3 ATI 12x1 NVIDIA Winner

Freak can you back up what your saying as far as pipeline configuration at all ?

If NV40 is based on NV3x, so 4x2 evoluated into 8x2, otherwise NV40 is a new design, but it's not because it would cost NVIDIA another huge amount of $$$$

isn't anything in the next 10's usually based on a new design?

the nv40 should have 16 real pipes or itll be how superior the 9800p was over a fx5950 all over again :rolleyes:

So, you're just speculating then or do you have inside info?

YES

My prediction are: 8x2 design, support for PS3.0
FX12, FP16, FP32...

I agree 100% on that.
My new 9800-256 will be sold and replaced
as soon as I can get my hands on a NV40. :)
