because Idsoftware have told that each levels ,its about 200k-350k

Taking a peak at the leaked(very old)stalker build, they have about 300k polys average in view at any one time and most are alpha test(or possibly alpha blend) and take up litte space on the screen(e.g. most are far away and should'nt use much fillrate, but vertex shading power for occlusion of normally rendered ones?).

I even swapped out my card for my old gf4 mx-440(I had a p3 600 MHz a year ago, getting a faster card than that would have been stupid), it ran that game at a solid(ish) 40 FPS(on a p4 ~3.0 GHz(overclocked p4 2.4c)). Massive amounts of simple polygons like that(no shaders, no massive overdraw) seem to run nicely on even old hardware.

Which Map is that? And dont have UT2004.. But if its the demo I could...

Deck17 in the full game...a clone to the uber popular Deck16 map :)

I love the ram layout on the NV35 and up cards.
I wonder if that has anything to do with be able to
clock it higher? Heck I could over clock my 5900u memory to 220Mhz over stock stable. 1.02Ghz is not bad for a card clocked at 800 stock. "lol" (bud)

I can only do 20mhz over stock on my ati card. :(

As for cooling I think it will be NV35 like cooling.
I'm sure every partner will make there own cooling.
You will see all kinds I'm sure. "lol" ;)

That's what I love about the nvidia cards. Some look
cooler than others.
About all ati card look alike. That's why I got a Asus 9800. ;)
I just hope the NV40 lives up to the hype this time.
If so I'll buy one for sure. I'm sure the R420 will be power house.
Just knowing it was made using the R3xx way of building you
know it will do well.

The beast has arrived. :kar:
And this is just the beginning... ;)

According to new rumors the beast is possibly a bit castrated...

I'm not sure if it has too much to do with it because my GFX 5800 ultra's ram can hit 1.2 ghz (And it's fairley stable too.)

I run my 5800u at 1200 all the time. :)
The 5800u has DDR2 tho.

yep.. Bk. but..
there are things like latency ,memory timings and heat ,internal stuff that plays a great role ,when it comes to the speed of memory..
too much heat makes conductivity smaller , which means current flow is slower. very low temp do the opposite. :)
so even if you can clock at 600mhz the memory of the Nv30.. its running in not the most efficient way it was designed to run. not only because the memory was not optimized to run from fab at that speed ,but also probably because the drivers +hardware are optimized ,more tweaked to work at certain default speed.you will notice this if you downclock the Nv30 memory to 400mhz and later to the default 500 and take notice of the diferences in performance.. and do the same again but at 600mhz.. if you notice smaller diferences in performance at higher clocks ,there is very likely that the memory its already in the limit of its eficiency.

high quality memory running at 600mhz at default from fab,can be much more faster (clock per clock) than a video card with memory of 500 but @ 600. thats why the less latency and higher quality is the memory the better is the performance. :)

Huh... And all the websites that tested NV30's couldn't even get their's to 1100.

yea thats right, i have yet to see a website with ram over 1100 that they would bench at

Don't these old benchmarks leaked by Vegetto-eX seem fake now? After seeing some real benchies?

Sorry to get back on topic. ;)
