As I've been saying the NV40 is a 16 pipe card. ;)

The 420 is toast. :)

Doesn't 36k in 2001se win some kind of record?

Yes... that's the highest I've ever seen.

Wow, some good info that we common-folk can relate to. :)

Why would that be the case? Wasn't the R420 supposed to be at least 2x times faster than the 9800XT? This guy is saying that it appears the NV40 is 2 or 3 times faster than his 5950. So, shouldn't the performance be really close between the two - the nv40 and r420 (or am I way off-base)?

Edit: Heh, guess I missed the smiley initially. :)

Yes but there is no link, you can guess that he wasn't able to public that score...... but more than 36K, 3dmark03 didn't run, give him an error of non detectable device....

His system was, Athlon 64 3200+, 1GB Ram Pc-4000, HDD 160gb Sata, Gigabyte GA-K8VT800 (VIA KT880).

O my god!!!!!!!!!!! 36k stock!!!!!!!!!! that must be like 400fps in nature!!!!!!!!!! we could easily see 40k stock runs with final drivers and faster a64's and over 50k from Macci and oppainter!!!!!! 16 pipes, 475/1200 clocks, my god!!!!!!!!!

The problem is in most of the game benchmarks its being held back by the CPU lol.

I jokes aside if this is all true the 420 and NV40 should
have a good battle in store for us.

I think they will be matched pretty even
with ati winning some and nv winning others.

It will be a lot closer than the R3xx and NV3x was.
That's for sure.

Wow I am very exciting, today is very good day. :D

I can imagine the final NV40 revision with Athlon 64 3800+ and 2Gb RAM will score 40k and over on 3D Mark 2001SE. :)

NV40 will be very great card, alot better than all past generations of 3dfx and Nvidia cards, also it will surpassed Voodoo 5 5500 and 6000's 4x and 8x FSAA.

is there any posibilty that this is all bs or is this guy for real ????

One big thing to me no one brought up was the core clock speed.

475 core was quiet a bit lower than what everyone was saying it would be.
550 to 600 is what everyone was saying. "lol"

Though I knew it would be lower than that.
I would hope the IPC is higher on the NV4x than
the NV3x was. ;)

Why run at a higher Mhz and make more heat
if you don't need to.

Though I was hoping for 500 core. If they do in fact come
at 475 core you can bank on the NV45 being 525 or so.

That's an insane 3dm2k1 score, but some of the other benchmarks aren't as impressive. 51 FPS in Halo? That's not spectacular, a GFFX5950 gets 30 FPS at that resolution. I'm betting there is some serious room for improvement in the drivers, either that or it's CPU limited.

U also have to remember that Halo score is with 8X AF!

The card may provide this preformance but if those screenshots are realy then Nvidia has alot to answer for because they bluring the screen.

No, guys at Beyond 3D noticed the image from Pain Killer was blurred when zoomed in, they requested to post the original full image in bmp format. But however when I saved the image and zoomed in, it did not blurred on my LCD TV, I saved the image in jpg format. Image blurred probably caused by png format.

Actually no. Everyone who know something were saying 400-500. Then there were some hoping that it will be 600.

Interesting. :)
Too bad the thread went south pretty quickly. B3B isn't what it used to be i guess.

Looks like the next gen cards will have more bite than most of us thought. :bounce:

Too bad that they didn't post CMR 04 benchmark numbers, since we know the R420 can reach 100-120 fps, which was supposedly up to 3x faster than current hi-end cards.

The beyond3d thread got sidetracked on cpu limitations by some guys who didn't even know AMD's naming conventions ...

Assuming the guy is not bullsh tting then it does sound very very good. From what he has said I give him the benefit of the doubt.

I'm not counting out r420 yet ( rumoured to be next week for announcement ) I bet this is a great card,

However, it looks as if nv40 is

a) powerful
b) improved IQ

so nobody is going to kick sand in our faces for the next 12 months like after nv30 ..and that is important.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

of course we can still argue the toss like adults ! :)

Regards

Andy

PS Notice how the mood round here has changed since people stopped coming over bashing us because they could not bash nvidia directly ? It's like a party night 1999 ... cue Prince !

ROTFL...that has to be one of the funniest things I have ever heard. You do realize that they wanted a PNG because it is smaller than a BMP and it is also lossless. If any blurring is found in a PNG then it was created by whatever hardware that the pic was taken on. And if you create a JPG then you blurred it even more (even if it was only a small amount). Maybe you got your formats confused but if not...

Those results look very promising indeed. :) Can't wait for the first indepth reviews and how it will match up to the R420.
