The pixelfillrate speaks for nvidia.
even the ati aibs said, that the nv40 will be faster than the r420.
I'm sorry, but i just don't buy that. Care to mention just one of the aib partners who said this? :smoking:

Most of them... Because the r420 will just be a replacemnt before ati will launch something new in october. I do not think that the nv40 will be significantly faster, but around 5-10 percent

If it is right .. and I tend to think it is. Though demirug, as is his want, throws in another couple of variables :) .

I think that it will be a new generation! Maybe r500.-) At first, the r400 was inteded to introduce a complete new marchitecture, but the performance was too low, so ati decided to skip the chip and bring a improved r3xx architecture until they figured out the problems. Which seems to be solved by the follow up product.

Ehrm, where are you getting this stuff? We've discussed the R400 like 10 times already.
