Nice result for 500Mhz GDD3 memory, seems cooler as well, my DDR2 on 5800 runs up to 50C.

10% overclock is not bad at all considering the high Mhz starting point.

Looks good for new generation.

its a reference only board and proof of nvidia's gdr3 ram testing but that ram is meant for next generation cards such as nv40

GDDR3 looks like a winner!

But they did not include regular 5700 Ultra with DDR for base line scores @!#$% :argh:

At idle, the GDDR3-equipped GeForce FX 5700 Ultra helps our test system consume just over 10% less power than with the DDR2 version of the 5700 Ultra. Under load, the power consumption savings drops to 7%, likely because the GPU consumes more power while crunching through the Mother Nature test.

so? its the same MHz per MHz except it overclocks better. kinda like comparing tsop and BGA on 9600s and ti4400s. 9600s with tsop ram come at 400MHz and overclock to 500-550MHz. Those with BGA ram come at a whopping 600MHz and can hit 700MHz. ti4400s come at 550MHz, but the tsop ones suck, they hit about 570 to 620MHz while the BGA ones usually exceed 600MHz. Many do 640 to 720MHz!!!!!! gddr3 will start where ddr and ddr2 left off. You almost never see ddr at 1GHz. 9800xt's come at 730MHz and most do about 800MHz. 900MHz is very rare. fx5900s come at 850MHz and 1GHz for those are very rare. fx6000s will come with 1200MHz ram and we could be seeing 1.4GHz to 1.5GHz oc on those :D

anything that can work faster and use less power then current generation is great step in right direction :D

If the r420 does not use gddr3 then its a good indication the ram probably will be stock below 1GHz......

That's 2.2ns and not 2.0ns so it is not apples to apples ( to quote everyones current in vogue greengrocer phrase )

Reduced power consumption sounds good. I don't give a damn about overclocking, but anything that heats my case up less is good news :)

Huh.. whats that have to do with showing how mutch benefit faster memory can give ? :wtf:

There's no point showing anything to do with the 5700U as nobody is buying it, they are all buying 5900XT , so baselines for the 5700U is a waste of time.

All we are interested in is how the GDDR3 overclocks, which will be useful for other cards where we are interested in the baseline.
