I am using Debian and and a GeForce 2 MX card. I am trying to isntall the nvidia driver module using NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run. A precpmpiled module can't be found so it tells me it will have to compile it. As soon as it starts I get an error:
ERROR: unable to determine the NVIDIA kernel module file name.
What causes this error and ho0w can it be fixed?

You'll probably get more answers in the Linux (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=14) forum.

First you have to have the proper kernel source code and headers installed.
Then you need the build libs.
You will have to let NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run compile a kernel module
from the above.
