Anyone ever get the error after installing NVdvd 7.17

"Unable to obtain interface to DVD navigator."

Getting this from a pop-up window called NvSkins.

Anyone else run into this? I'm using a:

GeForce3
Personal Cinema
40.x drivers

Works great for me on my laptop. I'm using the 40.71 drivers here. Since you're using the personal cinema, have you tried the latest WDM drivers for that? That's about all I can suggest for now.

Well it turns out the issue I'm having is with WinXP and DirectX 8.1

If you do not update to Service Pack 1 for WinXP then it does tno fully install all the components for DirectX. This causes an issue as NvDVD uses many components from DirectX.

I am unable to update to SP1 as the store I bought my comupter from is using some kind of an invalid product key for their WinXP installs. Microsoft has said that the only way to get the full DirectX 8.1 is to update to service pack1!

Anyone know how to get around this?

If you or a friend of yours has a copy of Unreal Tournament 2003, the fully updated version of DirectX is on the 3rd CD.

I would have a chat with that store then. If they tell you to shove off, call Microsoft's piracy hotline. If you can't get 'em, then Billy G's legal team will. I assume you paid for a legal copy of XP, right?

Just download the new corperate edition with the fully slip-streamed SP1 integrated, it's widely availible and can be had in short-order. www.sharereactor.com is your friend.

Are you suggesting that this could be a problem with the Det 40.xx?? So far ive been lead to believe it was a problem with the installation of SP1 which was causing the problem. Well, i guess there is no harm in trying out the new drivers, if it works, then ill be happy :D
