01 dupe view.exe

Has anyone see this process running on your machine (01 dupe view.exe)?
I (apparently a mistake) installed Messenger Plus (http://www.msgplus.net/) and even though the site claims to not install any spyware, etc...it crammed a bunch of crap onto my machine, browser hijackers, etc, etc.

I thought I would be fine since a site like neowin.net was talking it up. Ugh. Anyway, this "01 dupe view.exe" is now in my task list and Adaware doesn't remove it...I'll try spybot and other typical utils. Anyone know what it does though?

UPDATE: Looks like this is part of some crap gambling software that gets installed to C:\Program Files\freethirdjoy

Wow, I wouldn't expect this sort of garbage in a program that an honest site such as Neowin touts so regularly. Thanks for the warning.

Heh, once I installed this MSNplus! and had a damn virus in the installer :/ havent used it since, doesnt really add any functions that I use anyways.

Yeah, the only thing about it that I really liked was the ability to turn off the banner ad at the bottom. I'll just peck around for the registry key for that though and do it myself. :)

And yeah stncttr908, I was very surprised since neowin backs it. Thought I might be mistaken but Smokey confirms it. Man that suxors, c'mon neowin!

Have you contacted the Neowin owners/admins about this?

No I have not. I would think that they've gotta be aware of this as I doubt that I'm the first person to notice this. I dunno.

Good old spyware... there is now so much of it that utils like spybot S&D and adaware are can't keep up. Anyone got the pup.exe/over.exe one yet? It overwrites your media player with a copy of itself. I got this one last week and it was the final straw. No more Internet Explorer for me! Firefox all the way now :)
