If any reviewer happens to have some engineering samples by that time

True lets hope so i realy want some real reviews after months of rumor speculation and fake information :p , one problem thought as long as card is not available to buy reviews can be bias as always:(

well one thing is for sure we know that there are real operating boards out in the wild ....so there is very little reason to doubt that there will be not be reviews on the 13th ...

If any reviewer happens to have some engineering samples by that timeWell, it seems already the case ;) or at least some reviewers have had the possibility to bench the NV40.

Recently we received confirmation that the first retail samples of ATI's R420 (AGP Radeon X800) will debut April 26 as Radeon X800 Pro. NVIDIA's NV40 (GeForce 6800) officially launches April 13th, but retail availability will occur around April 26th.

What seems highly unusual is the scheduled introduction of Radeon X800 XT on May 31st; only a month after Radeon X800 Pro's unveiling. Recall that Radeon 9800 and 9800 XT were launched six months apart. We can speculate ATI has either changed their marketing strategy, or the difference in performance between R420 and NV40 hastens ATI's release schedule. Further inspection of the ATI roadmaps reveals that "Non-Pro" Radeon X800s are absent.

Cool, thanks for the link. Some good info there. :bounce:

Especially that.
Looks like paper launches are history. :clap2:

Another thing about Radeon X800XT. Is that just a higher clocked X800 Pro? Or will that be the mysterious 12 pipe thingy? Weird if they launch a card that pretty much destroys the X800 Pro so shortly after though.
My head hurts.. :)

wow nice!!!!!!!

x800 pro
x800xt
x600 pro
x600xt
x300 pro
x300xt

and there could be a "se" for each. man 9 different cards from ati and thats just for agp! the real question is, how good will the x600xt be? if it uses 128 bit ram, then I doubt itll own a 9700 pro, itll be like a 9500 pro on steriods. If 256 bit ram then it could match a 9800xt or even own it depending on clocks. I am pretty sure the x600 will be 8 pipes since itll be those x800s that didnt make 12 pipes while the xt300 are those with 4 pipes. heres my guess:

x800 pro 500/900 with 12 pipes
x800xt 600/1100(thats what a rumor said)
x600 pro 500/800 with 8 pipes
x600xt 600/800 with 8 pipes
x300 pro 400/600 with 4 pipes(very similar to a 9600 pro)
x300xt 550/650 with 4 pipes

Personally, I reckon the X800SE will be the performance mainstream card. Assuming the X600s (i.e. RV380) are little more than the PCI equivalent of the RV360s, I've just a sneaky suspicion that the 'performance mainstream' market will need an 8-pipe (2 quad) chip on the 0.13 micron process to replace the R360. Of course, this might not happen for another six months.

I could also be utterly wrong!

I thought the rv380 isnt just a pci-e of the 9600 pro, its the midrange of the r420!

I can tell you that even without having NV40 scores I'd know that those UT2003 scores are total bull****.

judging by the benchies, hes cpu limited badly. 240fps to the 279fps in 1024x768 thats only 16% faster. however 146 to the 266 in 1600x1200 shows a massive 82% increase! Thats why with a slow cpu or if you play at 1024x768 a ti4200 or 9800p is good enough

Until the NDA is lifted I wouldn't put any faith in "leaked" benches.

Ummmm... what the hell?

if he were cpu limited there would be no increase in frame rate or very little. 16% is not a little, and niether is 82%. Maybe you meant GPU not CPU limited.

But beings how UT2004 is a very CPU intensive game, those benchies most likely are full O bull.

I sure as heck wouldnt pay for an nv40 for only 16% more performance
