I've been toying with the idea of competing against O'Reilly using a combination of MP3s, my own website, and possibly ShoutCast or some other steaming media outlet so I figured I better do some *ahem* marketing research first. ;)
Speaking of O'Reilly, last night's show was a whopper. He set his show up with this choice tidbit...
Only 17 percent of homes in this country were tuned in to the President's address. If you didn't, should you have been watching? Are the millions of Americans who skipped the speech apathetic... and Un-American? We'll debate that question tonight...
Well he did debate it with Don De Luca and O'Reilly went so overboard that my BS radar starting chirping like mad, and with that, so did my temper. O'Reilly welcomes feedback...and I gave him some directly to his Inbox...

Hey Bill...
You said the other night during your debate with De Luca that you originally defined american citizens that didn't watch President Bush's address as "un-American" then you backpedaled and gave more detailed criteria saying "people that don't have any respect for the law" would fall under your radar as people that are Un-American.
First off, let me say that my definition of someone that's "un-American" is anyone that demands more from others than they demand of themselves - nothing more, nothing less. Those people usually know who they are because they have to look at themselves in the mirror every morning.
But my question is, under your criteria, would the entire Republican party also fall under your "un-American" radar because they showed absolutely no respect towards Florida's election laws regarding the certification of overseas ballots?
Of course not.
You wouldn't want millions of Factor viewers to see you drown in your own "spin", now would you?

Screw the Constitution was their cry. http://sbp777.homestead.com/files/disa.gif
Nice way to treat military people overseas. http://home.earthlink.net/~sbp777/smilies/disgusted.gif
New Jersey Democrats pulled shenanigans to replace the slimebucket Torricelli who was going to lose. Now ballots need to be reprinted.

"Under New Jersey law, a party can replace a statewide nominee on the ballot if the person drops out at least 51 days before the election. Torricelli missed the deadline by 15 days."
Say something about that if you dare. :p

Hey Psycho, how about when earlier today you labeled all U.S. Soldiers as being corrupt and going out to commit war crimes, beat people up, abuse innocents, commit murder and rape women. You don't sound that much different from what you labeled O'rielly to be doing.
LORD-eX-Bu

How did O'rielly label anyone unamercan? He hasn't! you have! he simply brought out the fact that 3 of the largest TV networks refused to show the president's speech about what the democrats have been asking about. He answered their question, and these networks refused to show this speech even tho it was really important. Furthermore, the democrats have been asking the administration to address these issues, and when the president does so, the nation's most liberal networks decided not to bring it to the american public. Seems that it isn't the republican party that doesn't want the public to know about these issues and where they stand on it, but that the liberal media does not want the public to know that the Republican administration is addressing the issue and doing their best to bring what information they can to everyone that they can. If people don't have access to it, how the hell do you expect them to know about it?

You twisted and distorted what the guy said, if that isn't spin I don't know what is. And, if you do the whole audio thing, how do you expect O'rielly to defend what he says? I mean, it is so one sided, you would just edit and change the order of what he says to fit what you wanna say in there. Go ahead and do it, whatever floats your boat, but don't expect much out of it.

They didn't REFUSE to show anything.
The Pres didn't ask any of the networks to show his speech, but Fox did (probably just so O'Reily could label the rest of the major networks unamerican).
And before you say, "WHAT SOURCE?! IT WAS THE LIBERAL MEDIA, WASN'T IT! DIEEEEE!" and then try to stab me in the face, that's what John McCain told Letterman about the speech.
And speaking of Vietnam and other times when Americans have committed atrocities in war... look up the Philippine occupation of the early 1900s. Hey, whaddoya know, rarely talk about that one EVER.

So you're saying that just because the president didn't request the air time it was not newsworthy? or not even important? I guess the drew carey show is more important than the global war on terror and the president's stand on it.

When the Pres makes what he considers to be an important speech, he specifically ASKS the media to show it.
He did not.
Now, the Pres goes around and makes 20 speeches a week. Don't see those on TV, do you?
He's going to make a big one probably Saturday or whenever the resolution gets passed. Don't be stupid.

The speech was advertised heavily the before. It is really hard to beleive that those networks didn't see the importance behind this speech. The president gave a 30 minute exhaustive account and description on the issues at hand, and what do those networks do? they simply avoid it and the next day give a speech that was over 30 minutes less then 40 seconds of air time. It makes it easier for these people to attack the speech and convince people to side with their ideas when they keep everyone from having access to the speech in its entirety.

Um.. "The President's going to make a speech, just so you know." That ain't advertising. If he wanted to advertise it, he should have taken the friggin' initiative and called up the media.
It is really hard to beleive that those networks didn't see the importance behind this speech.
Mark my words, he'll either make another one tomorrow night or Saturday as soon as he decides to go to war (which relates to the resolution being passed, see previous post).

Yes, it's called "ratings" and "advertising money." They fund EVERY network. If Fox had something better to show, they would've shown it, believe me. As for the 40 second thing, we don't need the media to be giving the president head by thinking that everything he says is somehow infallible and comes from the mouth of God. IT'S NOT.
It makes it easier for these people to attack the speech and convince people to side with their ideas when they keep everyone from having access to the speech in its entirety.
Let's see... news dot google dot com . Search for bush iraq speech transcript.
WOW, there it is! IN FULL!
And considering there are computers at public libraries, I don't think anyone is somehow prevented from knowing its content. Plus, seriously, you honestly believe that the people who watch Drew Carey and Friends and such honestly give two ****s about what the President thinks about Iraq? If they can't be bothered to change the channel, they wouldn't have watched it anyway.
LORD-eX-Bu
10-10-02, 06:18 PM
If the president didn't advertise it, then how come Fox and CNN as well as some others knew about it when the others didn't? also, the resolution, as Bush said, doesn't mean imminent war on Iraq, it is just another step towards the goal of declaring war.
