Zoomy, I know this may be hard for you to understand, but I think you have a problem. Your constant need to upgrade has become a strain on you and all the people around you

I just want you to know that we are here for you, and we want to help you get over this issue together (just not by getting you a 5950) :angel2:

:spank: i am a bad man for trying to upgrade again.. EVEN THOUGH I KNOW THE 5950 IS ABOUT .00000065% faster that when i have!

:angel3: hehe, i went from a xfx 5200 256mb (wich i tried to overclock the hell out of) to the built by nvidia 5950 ultra 256mb which with my new tower and fans i have been able to get it running steady at 550/1.14, and i'm gonna keep going once i get more cooling *the stock speeds for this card are 475/950 ahh yes this great thing they call overclocking is oh so fun

Zoomy, they have a term for people like you (and me): We are called Hardware *****s. Now, I don't consider that as a bad thing, but it may carry a bad connotation with others when trying to explain what/who you are.

if they dont understand my affliction with hardware.. its their loss!! :)

maybe there is someone who has a voodoo 5 5500 or a kyro II and they dont need that pesky 5950 anymore.. anyone?

The 5950U was the first high-end card I ever purchased. I remember I got it for like $405 shipped from Monarchcomputers.com. I was soooo stoked. Went with the ASUS as it was the only single-slot 5950U at the time.

The day it arrived, I could have sworn I heard angels singing. Went from a Ti4200 to the 5950U... huge frikken jump in near every game. Was blown away.

Then I later kicked myself as I realised I could have had the 9800XT for only $35 more. Then a few short months later the 6800GT was released... and there I was, kicking myself yet again as I no longer had money for a new graphics card.

That old 5950u served me well though. Through one of the Arctic Cooling HSFs on it, and over clocked it like crazy. Had a s754 2800 that I pumped up to 2.2Ghz at the time. Was a screamin' budget rig. :)

Good memories. :)

and where is it now?

and where is it now?

Ah, it gave up the ghost probably a good 2 years ago... maybe a bit longer.

So it's probably been recycled and is now... well, Lord knows what.

I saw the thread title and I was thinking "maybe he means a 5970" as in the ATI card. Then I saw the date.

Damn POS naming schemes.
