You know, I have it on good authority that a certain rap star was gonna buy an SLR, but the cig lighter drew too many amps so he told the broker, "Forget it! I am geetting a Neon SRT!". :screwy:

that geforce 6800 pic looks legit. single slot too! the cooler is much larger than on ti4200s and fx5900s but is nowhere as bad as that on the infamous nv30(fx5800) but those dual molex connectors could hurt nvidia. I noticed none of the ati cards require a molex connector. also the little card with tsop ram must be a 9600 NON pro

Yeah, why don't you just add it to your sig instead of repeating it over and over and over and over and over and over...

Wow, so it seems that is probly the boards Reviewers have gotten?

Nice, The pins on the top ram moduels do look hip, but out of place.

it doesnt proves anything ,its a review sample board ,and that one takes only 1 slot. and even if the card took 2 slot ,it still a reference sample cooler. Manufacturers like ASUS,ABit,LEeadtek and others have their own cooling solutions... the NV35 reference sample was a 2 slot solution ,and everyone already knows that the NV35 retail cards takes just only one ,with very good looking cooler solutions.
the reference sample is just for reviewers... not neccesarily the final design.. the final choice of the cooler of the card is from the manufacturers..

You actually mean that you are concerned with the use of the second pci slot when using a performance video card? I keep the slot open for my 9800Pro and even my 9600XT. Keeping it open improves overall cooling of the card with better air flow and avoiding the likelihood of dead air space and resulting heat build up.

it does not take up 2 slots anymore, too many people were complaining so nvidia made the effort to make it 1 slot. way to go :)

And several people on these forums, who are more knowledgable than you, or fuad, have stated that it is a 16 pipe card. So who do you think I'm going to believe?

You mean like these were 8 pipes?

In the first one there is a guy reviewing an actual card in his possession and regurgitating exactly the specs NV gave him.

The second tells the real story because at this point the truth has already been revealed by all the people that could really put the NV30 through the rounds. Just to remind you NV never fessed up to the NV30 having only 4 true pipes. They only released the NV35 specs showing the "corrections".

So now we have a bunch of rumors that say NV40 is 16 pipes. My money is on 8+8 not a true 16. Once bitten twice shy is where I am at.

Besides, what makes you think that NVIDIA would all of a sudden change their entire philosophy on GPU architecture and abandon the flexibility of their pipelines?

That's what they HAVE done, Spotch... they've changed their philosophy on shaders... case in point: nv has switched from long instruction/long pipeline shaders to short instruction/short pipeline shaders...

/me goes to bed :)

Nope. Let me get this straight for you. It's a 1 slot card with a 2 slot cooler. There. :) Looks ugly to me, but as long as we don't have stuff like unsuspected users passing close to their PC's rear-end only to get 3rd degree burns anymore, it's Ok with me. :lol2:

What the heck do you use to fill up 4 PCI slots?

I use a SATA RAID Card and SB Audigy 2ZS + 1 PSU fan controller and 1 USB 2.0 expansion. But the last 2 don't use the whole PCI slot so i can have them there and there will still be space for air to get to the video card which also has an 120mm fan over the top of from the case :)

My god, those pinns are awesome! I bet that covers the gpu also.

That is the most impressive peice of aluminum i have ever sceen for a stock heatsink.

It looks similar to an 5800 non ultra heatsink/fan.

I dont know why so many people are concerned as to whether it uses 2 molex connectors or if it is one or two slots. Unless I am mistaken, most "Gamers" who would pay that much for a video card would either already have a good PSU or wouldnt mind spending the extra cash to get a better PSU. As far as the slots, I know i have 6 slots, and I use only a few of them, one for my sata raid controller and one for my sound card and one extra usb 2.0 expansion card. So who is having problems fitting their 2 slot vid card in their case? and as many have said, even if it didnt take up two slots, I would leave the first slot empty so it could have better air circulation. My only thing is if they are going to make a big heatsink/fan on it that obviously takes up room on the first pci spot, then go ahead and add the double plate so i can screw the mother' down with two screws.

just my 2 cents
