No I think it's the way Geforce 4 Ti4200 is believing information, he believes the best stuff from ATI yet believes the poorer rumors from Nvidia. It is making him look like an ATI missionary or something.
Like you said something along the lines of, the NV40 was 8 or 16 pipecard, yet you chose to believe the R420 is 16 Pipes only. While information shows that, in fact NV40 seems to be a 16 Pipecard only, and R420 is the one that is 8/12/16 depending on how many quads are enabled.

It's gonna be an interesting battle to say the least,
NV40/45
16x1/32x0
222 Million Transistors
Shader Model 3.0 Support
GDDR3 Memory
0.13 Micron Process
400MHZ - 500 MHZ Core
1100-1200MHZ Memory
256Bit Memory Interface
R420/423
16x1 at best configuration, also 12x1 and 8x1
160-180 Transistors (Estimated)
Unlikely Support of Pixel Shader 3.0
GDDR3/DDR1
0.13 Micron Low-K Dielectric
400MHZ-600MHZ Core
800MHZ-1200MHZ Memory
128Bit/256Bit memory Interface

That plus he takes any little bit of information, and he procedes to run wild, spouting how one card is going to obliterate another, especially even though he has no idea how gpus work, how they are made, etc.

On another note, if the Geforce 6800 Ultra is 399US, and the Geforce 6800 Non Ultra is 299US, this leaves room for something like Geforce 6800 Super Ultra 499US and a Geforce 6800 XT 199US. However if I were Nvidia, I wouldn't produce a 199US card based on NV40 now, maybe later on when yields are improved and I believe I made sufficient money on NV40 cores :)
Since it seems Nvidia can't modify their number of quads enabled I could be wrong....
Here is my take:
Geforce 6800 Super Ultra 475MHZ-500MHZ?/1300MHZ
Geforce 6800 Ultra 425-450MHZ?/1200MHZ
Geforce 6800 Non Ultra 400/1100MHZ
Geforce 6800 XT 350-400MHZ?/1000MHZ
All 4 cards would be 256Bit Memory Interface and 16x1/32x0

If this works out this way nvidia is going to do some
ass kicking in the market this year.

Ok let me get this stright, ATi's card is going to have a much higher clock, but take less power and make less heat..... Riiiiiiiiight.
R420
160 million transistors with low-k
475-600MHz core
one molex connector
NV40
222 million transistors w/o low-k
two molex connectors
400-450MHz core
The two molex connectors should give it away. Guess it was not obvious.

We don't know for sure if R420 is gonna sport 1 or 2 Molex connectors, there aren't any pictures of R420 that have been confirmed as the reference design seen quite yet. But I wouldn't be surprised if the AGP8x version of R420 XT needed 2 Molex Connectors. The Inquirer is speculating R420 might have 2 Molexes as well so who knows....

you should go see what the guys over at b3d are saying ...its going to have two molex connectors not one

I suggest you go back and re-read. Someone suggested R420 would have 2 molex, and the more respected and knowledgable people said that wasn't likely, and DaveB (the main guy of B3D) said
As far as I'm aware, ATI won't be using 2 power supplies.
And I'd take his word over pretty much anyone, short of ATI announcing it will have 2 molex connectors.

Thats good to hear, but ultimately we still must wait to be positive

unless the nv40 is significently superior over the r420, we should go r420 cause it runs cooler and uses less power
well unless ATI is on par feature wise we should go NV40 to push future technology.
How about that?
WTF? Where do you connect the monitor?
