Saw this at ********* - http://www.*********.com/#1021.

Scans of the article say 500+MHz core, GDDR3 mem (600MHz), 16 (full) pipes, 32 pixel shaders.

Very nice, if true.

As usual, the people at maximumpc have no idea what they are talking about.

you have obviously never read maximumPC

last year they gave out so much b.s. about the nv30 it was not even funny... and it continued all through the year with subsequent releases...

it was the only magazine I saw that regularly had the nv3x cards running 10-20% faster than ati's counterparts for the same range.... :rofl

so yes... I advise taking anything they put out with a pinch of salt...

Once I read this paragraph, I knew I'd puke if I kept reading...

The "real" problem?

LOL

Well, MAYBE there's some "real" info in that article, but hmmm, in a persuasive editorial, do you greet the reader with FUD, and then sprinkle in the actual info?? does that sell or something?

seems they are accurate with that part. the fx cards do have weak pixel shader, HL2 takes a huge performance hit unless its ran at dx8 and ps 1.1 but then why bother getting a fx when a ti4200 does dx8 fine? even a 9700 pro beats out the fx5950 in dx9 and pixel shader games which are those modern games. the fx5950 does shine in older games, but so does any card in the last 3 years

They should have just cut that paragraph and inserted the blurb with the ACTUAL explanation of the nv30's "problem"...

Heh, I guess that paragrah "sold" me, dammit, I got mad and read the rest... :p

And I really don't know how to take the main focus of the article... to me the info seems as likely as an inq story...

seems they are accurate with that part.

Dude, what I meant was teh fact that they mentioned a poorly coded, non optimized piece or warez, and a horribly coded mess of a Lara Croft game... I mean, heck, to stick with the trend of the paragraph, they could have also thrown in mention of how the cards performed in "Commander Keen: Goodbye Galaxy!"... :p:p

I seem to recall Maximum PC once saying that the Geforce3 would come out at 300mhz core 550mhz ram too... wasnt even close as I recall.
