Well ATI had the same problem with the R300. ATI didn´t count the NV30 to be such a failure and when people wanted the R300 they wheren´t fast enough to produce more.
The companies don´t like to storage video cards especially not high end.
R420 will hit retail before NV40 and in abundant quantaties

What do you mean by "too hot"?
If these things genuinely do require 2 Molexes to supply extra power ... then, well, it's been a while since I took Thermodynamics 101, but... power in == heat out.
It can run at 50C, 80C, 100C or 150C for all I care, if it's dumping 100+W of heat into my case, then it's running "too hot".
Or maybe the nVidia(R) TwinMoleFX(TM) is just for bragging rights
The NV40 runs cooler than Radeion 9700Pro and 9800Pro/XT, id worrie about those cards dumping too much heat in your case if i were you.

1) R420 samples have not been shiped to reviews (cant ship what you dont have)
2) R420's laucnh being delayed and confrimed by a few sources
So you are saying, though Nvidia has fully working A2 silicon, has many cards that were shiped to review sites. Diffrent mfg's showing off their boards, that they cant make any?
And that is going on while ATi cannot produce more thank a cuple working samples?
Yes, im sure you will try to pretend that "well, ati is just being secritive about it" while that is just wrong, they have no working R420's to show off.
they have no working R420's to show off.
People already have R420 boards.

People already have R420 boards.
So far people have press kits, and some have been demoed to groups.
The new pictures are from the Press Kit, but the first picture was from a showing of it.
They have working samples for sure but it looks like at least the X800XT will be delayed to early june. About X800 PRO I haven´t heard of any delays.

Actually the boards that have been sent out to reviewers are X800XT's.
Just a matter of time till someone leaks some benchies by "accident" :o
MAkes more sense. Sent the XT to the press and launch both XT and Pro asap if ati and nvdia launch any product close to each other ati is almost always going to get it out the door faster then nvidia, just on the simple fact the ati doesnt have to wait for board makers to build the boards. ati can do these two functions in paralle.... or very close to each other ....were as nvidia is at the mercy of the board makers to get the board into production.....

I belive Nvidia pritty much had all of the 5800 Ultras made for them, then they allowed their partners to stick their name on it.

Well that say nothing about the X800XT not being delayed...
But where have you heard that? It´s not the 26th yet is it?

Yeah, i guess you're right, but i guess most people were expecting X800 Pro's to pop up first. :)
But as you say, who knows when we can actually buy a 800XT.
I'm 99.99% sure the NDA for X800 XT will lift on May 4. So no previews for a while. :(
