wow.. saw this screenshot.. looks pretty interesting...

Ruby is the answer of ATI to Nvidia Dawn but now is NAlu...

http://karpo.org/images/Dunno/Ruby.jpg

according to the story RUBY is 80k polygons and Nalu is 300k ..
cant wait to see now the Ruby one.. seems that she interact or fight in the demo ..because there is a black monster of green eyes (Nvidia) ? there.. :)

the hair in NAlu takes hundreds of thousands polys alone.. but RUby seems to interact in an enviroment .lets see who is the first to hack each demo.. and use those for the ultimate benchmarking in DX9 :) but probably NVidia will end having 2 girls and ATI just 1 (unless ATI protect Rubi from going to an Nvidia Lan party ) hehe . :)

Ruby seem not quite real life-like when close up, she look like a Barbie doll and when look further away from her, it will look life-like.

Nalu hands down as she looks way better than ruby, nvidia have always been better at doing techdemos. I thought Volcan was amazing but this is :drooling: :drooling:

Nalu looks much better to me. But, she probably smells like fish.

Nalu looks great... I haven't seen the demo, but I think that they could have put something like some fish passing by or other things...

well i like boths girls.. but Nalu looks very sexy ,im more than impressed with the way she looks.. :)

here is again the demo..

Ruby looks very detailed too,but not that sexy ,looks more like a futuristic soldier like those female in star trek series..however its have cinematic quality and it will be interesting to see ,how she interacts with the enviroment . the monters there suggest that there will be a fight.. pretty cool :) i wonder why ATi or Nvidia doesnt release a full game next time with that quality. that will be much better than any demo or that any promotion :)

Ruby's hair looks somewhat stiffer and plastic. Too bad her demo didn't come out first because Nalu is a tough act to follow.

For your info, the whole scene in ATI demo will have over around 1,000.000 polygons...

I am hoping you meant 1,000,000 and not 1,000.000...

Considering the fact that Ruby herself is 80,000.....

I think its a little unfair to judge them against each other just yet. Lets wait till we see ruby in motion and the entire demo before we make any judgments ;)

I think that both of them look good but you are right about waiting to see the entire demo. To be completely honest I would be more impressed with Ruby if she was kicking some serious ass around a 3D environment instead of just floating in the water. To me that gives me a better idea of the cards performance. If you aren't moving that much it is more difficult to ascertain whether the card gives good framerates or not. Definately looking forward to seeing the Ruby demo. Still too early to write ATI off for this generation.

*Chuckles*

Oh Christ, another reason to start a fan boy feces flinging contest. I am glad Ati is getting their own virtual babe, good for 'em. It is kinda of funny considering all the flak Nvidia caught for using 'sex to sell video cards'.

And yes I loved Dusk in the leather/lace.

Anywho, I must end on a positive note, the more virtual babes the better, they are very low maintenance. :D

That one probably won't be ready for download until ATI officially released info on the X800 card (or whatever the hell they are gonna call it). I think they'll be releasing that info some time in May.

I know it has been mentioned elsewhere that a lot of the effects in the Ruby demo are coming from the work that ATI showed at GDC2004 but I don't think a lot of you have taken the time to actually look at that work and have written off Ruby since she is only 80,000 polygons instead of 300,000. At the same time however some of you have pointed out that Ruby isn't the only character in the scene...just the only one mentioned in the WSJ article. I took the liberty of getting a picture from one of the PDFs of the ninja dude in the background of the Ruby pic. Looks like this demo will be quite impressive if there are multiple characters like the Ninja and Ruby in a detailed environment.

Don't forget truform. Too bad that Nalu can only be used by herself. That's the problem with tech demo's. They are so detailed, that they can only be used by themselves. Good to see Ati break this trend.

Still, both of them are way sexier than the tree that was released with the Geforce1...

Hmmm.... there's an idea for the NV50 launch... Show the original tree, then zoom into one of the floating lights, and see an updated Dawn... that would be impressive, knowing there are a few dawns on the screen at once while zoomed out.

Hey! Be nice...I still have a good old GeForce 256 SDR lying around at home. It is currently in one of my old machines chugging away faithfully and will be put to further use this summer when I turn that machine into a linux box. :)

I read the PDF about Depth of Field, it not new, Voodoo 5, Geforce FX and Geforce 6 supported it so did R300, but Depth of Field never showed to worked on R300 with KOTOR. I think ATI wasted their time to make Advanced Depth of Field that will not work in actually games but it will only available for games engines cut-scenes as it said in the PDF.

I don't think this link has been posted yet...seems like a new pic of Ruby. Yawn. Granted it is small and doesn't show much detail but it just doesn't look very impressive.
